I tried to get an ADR for September but all the seatings during my visit 10 nights were around 8.30-9pm!!! No way I could eat that much that late!!! Lucky I booked my other ADRS earlier. Tried to change the date for my Boma ressie but couldnt as there was nothing available. I think this is going to be a busy September !!!!! :p I have eaten at Chef Mickeys lots before its a regular in our plans, may try and get it later on. popcorn::

The parks wil not be busy, but the restaurants--especially the more popular ones like Chef Mickey's-- will be full thanks to the free dining promotion.

Keep calling back, you may get a cancellation as you get closer.

Keep trying - perserverence MAY pay off - I tried to change my 8:05am crt to a lunch - any time during our 10 days, to no avail - until all of a sudden, one day several times opened up!!

(and I wouldnt assume the parks wont be crowded because of free dining!! Just read on the resort boards the resorts are FULL too - it will be crowded in the parks! _ Be prepared!!) :thumbsup2

I have to respectfully disagree with eeyore--the parks will NOT be crowded. September is probably as empty as you will ever see WDW. Free dining or not, many parents can not or will not take their kids out of school. When school is in session through most or all of the country, parks are less crowded that they are when schools are not in session.

Remember, WDW offered free dining last September as well, and the parks were very September-ish!

As to the restaurants--don't give up. Call every week or so...after you arrive, ask the concierge desk (formerly Guest Services) to call for you. You can never predict when someone will cancel a ressie.

My favorite example is that we wanted to eat at LeCellier. There was no availability. From our resort room, we were again told "no availability" for the next 3 nights. We spent an afternoon in the pool, and I phoned again about 4 pm. THey had a cancellation for 6 pm--perfect timing for us to clean up from the pool and get over to EPCOT!

I'm not suggesting you waste your life on the phone, but if you have a cell, you can even call while standing in line for attractions! You just can't predict when something will open up.

Just for curiousity, I just looked online to see if resorts were available for my days (Sept 28-Oct 3). The only thing I noticed was the value resorts only have preferred rooms available. Disney did just release the discount code to try to sell more rooms during September.

Here's hoping that the parks aren't crowded.

I'm hoping parks are empty in September also! I booked a few ADRs back in May wanting CRT. I had no problems getting CRT but Chef Mickey's and PSB are a whole different story. I have Chef Mickey's but wanted after more planning wanted to change the date, no way. We were not able to get into PSB at all.

I'm still thrilled with what I did get though, CRT alone makes me happy.

I just looked earlier today about adding an extra day to my vacation (Sept. 17-23) and had my choice of resort availability - from value to poly concierge :confused3

I agree, We went last September during free dining-most days rides like big thunder mountain/splash mountain etc only had 10 minute waits. Fantasyland rides were practically walked on. This is our favorite time to go!!! Only crowds I saw was the first days in epcot of food and wine fest...but the crowds were locals not tourists. September will be great :thumbsup2

I didn't have any trouble adding Chef Mickey to my Sept/Oct trip.
But I wanted a later seating. We got a ADR for 8:15pm. We are heading over there after we see La Nouba. Can't wait.

Even if it is going to be busy, I don't care I will be in WDW :thumbsup2
We normally go in late May/early June/late June so we are use to crowds and waits.

I called to see if I could get Chef Mickey's 2 weeks before Christmas last year for dinner on Christmas Day and couldn't believe my ears when the CM told me 5:00 was available. Anything is possible!

I just had the same experience! I moved a trip by one day and so had to make some ADR changes. Chef Mickey booked both of our MK days unti 8:00 or later! I ended up booking a late breakfast (11:20) since we don't have any breakfasts yet, but I will change it if I'm able to get dinner at a decent time!
