chef mickeys for intimate reception - is this wierd?

I wouldn't care about what other people could think. It is YOUR wedding day, and if that is what you would like, so be it!

I celebrated my 25th birthday in Disneyland Paris, with a character breakfast, and I was the only one who didn't fit in with the "kiddies" group or with the "accompanying grandparents or parents group". I was also the only one wearing Minnie Mouse eras. So what, I had the best birthday ever!

I admit a birthday is different from a wedding, but if that is what you would like, just do it!

That sounds like fun. I love Disney and last time my fiance and I went we ate at all the character meals and had a blast, eventhough we didn't have any kids with us it was still fun and enjoyable.
I would also have to agree about the wedding. If that's what you want then go for it. It will be lots of fun and enjoyable.

I have to agree with everyone on this issue. I am doing this also, but know that I booked it before I knew any children were coming to my wedding. I didnt book it for them, I booked it for me. And having a character meal is no different than paying the huge $$$ that Disney charges to have the characters come to your reception. Tons of brides do that and no one blinks an eye.

Its your day, do what you want. You cannot please everyone and the only way to make sure you are happy on your day is to do what pleases you and your groom. Dont worry about what anyone will think or say. And trust me we arent going to be the first or the last brides to do it. I have seen at least one other bride who shared photos (I dont remember where I saw them) and she had a picture of her and her groom with Mickey at Chef Mickeys.

Have fun and go for it!
