DS really wants to see Mickey, and dinner is our best option...so it looks like Chef Mickey's. I'm willing to forgo a "good" meal, but I'd like there to at least be some things that are edible (I'm hoping to have more than just salad). What are my best options for dinner? Is the prime rib decent?

I was at Disney in August and Chef Mickey's was my least favorite meal. The food wasn't inedible but not my favorite by any means. I remember enjoying the salad bar vegetables, cheese, and bread the most. The meats were okay. We had bbq chicken, sliced turkey, etc. The side dishes were okay. Desserts to me were all horrible and all very pretty tasteless.

However, it was my daughter's favorite. She loved the food! Even though I say it was my least favorite meal, we are going back in 10 days and have another ADR for dinner at Chef Mickey's. It's the kids' favorite place to go!

honestly, i found it inedible. we had fun with the characters but all needed a snack soon after...everyone has different experiences though! we will not be returning. we are going to ohana to see mickey and goofy and hoping to find the others in the parks. good luck! let us know if you liked it!

If you go in knowing that the food will be less than stellar, and you know your kids will love seeing Mickey, Minnie, Donald... then you can get through the meal....remember the experience and not the food!

There is some decent food - but it really is built for kids and their palate...you can definitely find some things to your liking, but you may have to hunt!

We have had dinner a few times at Chef Mickey's and thought the food was good. It wasn't great but it was edible and best of all none of us ever got sick after eating there.

Unless it's changed, it's Mickey and Pluto @ the Best Friend's Breakfast. Not that it's a huge deal, but just wanted to give you a head's up incase you had your heart set on Goofy.

Last time we ate dinner there was in April 2010 and we weren't disappointed with the food. It's upscale buffet food - it's not gourmet, its Disney.

You'll find ALOT more than salad to eat.

I think Chef Mickey's is definitely more about the experience than the food. We've made it our first dining stop on our last two trips -- great way to kick off the trip. Our first experience there was great - we all loved it. The second was less so, but that had to do with the timing of the character circulation around the room -- we missed one and didn't want to wait for the next time they came through. I thought the food was decent. Certainly we had better food at other places we ate, but the experience of seeing characters and whipping your napkin around your head made up for it. :goodvibes

I guess I am the oddball, but we liked the food at Chef Mickey's. It was a good variety...nothing unbelievably great...but still very good. :)

We really liked the food at Chef Mickeys....the mashed potatoes were my favorite!!!!

Thanks, everyone! I'm glad to hear I won't need to fill up on salad. If I can find ONE decent protien, I'm happy. The more I think about it, this seems to be the perfect pre-Wishes Dessert Party meal. What a great excuse to do that! If we're hungry when we leave, we'll just have to compensate for it there! ;)

I didnt think the food at dinner was awful. I had some chicken casserole or something that was really yum! However, for dinner, i just want something more subdued and cozy feeling. The tables, etc feel just like a fast food restaurant to me. My kids loved it and it was wonderful to watch my two year old dance along with Minnie, but I am choosing it for breakfast this year.

Thanks for this thread. This is the one ADR I'm second guessing. I tried to talk my DD into another option, but she wants to see the Fab Five, so Chef Mickey's it is! Dinner works better in our schedule, but I was terrified of the food. My expectations are still low, but glad to hear that it's not absolutely disgusting. I can deal with mediocre.

Thanks...that is exactly how I feel. I hope our children appreciate what we do/eat for them! :goodvibes

That's a really good plan! The desserts at Chef Mickeys are pretty darn dismal but that's ok because you can save your sweet tooth for the party!! :)
