Chef Mickey's for dinner - What's your opinion?

I am really debating on doing Chef Mickey's and if we do, it'd be for dinner. We aren't too big on breakfast. So, what are your opinions on the quality of their dinner buffet. Of course, I know that it is a buffet so that automatically takes it down a notch on food quality.

Honestly, it was one of our worst meals ever.... Dirty and food was disgusting... Think of a bad Golden Corral with characters...

The atmosphere is crazy loud - the character interaction was fun but fast - the food was "meh" at best. We didn't leave hungry - but we won't be hurrying back.

I am pretty sure "Chef Mickey's" was worse than "Golden Corral".

Well, you guys have made my decision easy. I was thinking "great, another character meal!" haha... It was either Chef Mickey's or Ohana... I'm going with Ohana!

I think you are choosing wisely. We ate at both Chef Mickeys and Ohana in January and Ohana won hands down by all 6 of the adults in our group. We felt cramped, and we had less than attentive service. We were a group of 11 (think 18% automatic gratuity). We had to constantly ask for drink refills. It was my nephew's birthday and they brought the cake out when we were still eating because it was time for the "celebration"--ready or not--here's your cake! We ate at Crystal Palace and 1900 park fair and the food at both of those places was much, much tastier!

I very much disagree. We just got back this week from a wonderful vacation where we visited Chef Mickey's for dinner and it was GREAT.

We ate early, at 5pm and everything was very clean, good quality for buffet food. Yes it was loud, but what character meal isn't? LOL

Overall it was very good we would do it again in a heartbeat.

I guess that we're not hard to please. We were there Wed night and thought it was fine. The ribs and parmesean mashed potatos were really good. Yes you're cramped and it's noisy. Those high ceilings don't make for an intimant setting. But you see Mickey and the gang isn't that why you go there?

It is hands down the worst meal we have ever had at WDW. Our server and the characters were great, but that was it. The restaurant was filthy, to the point were when we walked in DH looked around at the floor and said "are we actually going to EAT here"--- he is not exactly what you call picky either, he normally does not notice that type of thing at all. We were there early in the dinner service too. The salads and desserts were good (except for the ice cream which was soup- DD (then 3) wouldn't touch it if that tells you anything). The entrees were absolutely disgusting. I watch a kid drop the tongs from the chicken on the floor and then pick them up and put them back in the chicken. His horrified mother told the CM and apologized. If they changed out the chicken, or even the tongs, I sure didn't see it. MIL got sick after eating there. Even DD doesn't want to eat there again.

Ohana dinner was definately better than CM, that being said i've never been to a Golden Corral and cannot see the situation where we wouldgo, I didn't think CM was horrible just average

I find its hit or miss for us with Chef Mickeys. Sometimes its been really good, others its been ok and others its been bad. We go for the characters though, not the food.

The dinner at Chef Mickeys is ok. Its not horrible but definately nothing special. The character interaction in great though.

It has been a couple of years, but we very much enjoyed our dinner here. In fact, the kids have selected this as one of our ADRs again for this year.

I was there in November and while it wasn't the best meal, it wasn't bad. We were there for an early dinner (I think 5:00 or 5:30) and things didn't strike me as messy or dirty. There were actually a few things on the buffet that were quite good, but it is still a buffet so not an amazing meal. The character interactions were good and spent a decent amount of time at the table.

Chef Mickey's Dinner has been crossed of my list to return to. Too bad because this restaurant is so Disney.

I know there are many who still enjoy this restaurant, but we are a family who pays out of pocket and this meal is just not worth the price. Poor food, messy dirty food area plus poor service.

We were there on Sunday. I thought the food reminded me of our local Old Country Buffet but with fewer choices and at nearly four times the price. (Much better than our local Golden Corral, though.)

We had a 5:30 ADR and were seated promptly. Yes, it was loud, but not unclean. The food was ok overall, and a couple of items were very good. Character interaction was excellent. I have knee, hip, and back problems, so having the bathrooms downstairs is a pain-literally.

That being said, my 3 y/o granddaughter loved it and I don't regret taking her one bit.
