Chef Mickeys Comparable To......?

::MickeyMo We always do Chef Mickey's for Dinner at least once a trip. Never any issues with it. We love the food and the character interaction. Much better food than Ponderosa, Golden Corral, etc. :confused3 Rebecca

We ate at Chef Mickey's in late May and loved it. We thought the food was very good and the character interaction was awesome...at one point, characters were coming by, one after the other, and we had no chance at all to eat. My daughter loved the shrimp and my son loved the prime rib. Maybe we just hit CM on a really good nite.

We had the EXACT same experience in late May. We were pleasantly suprised at how good the food was to us. We expected low-end buffet and truly booked it for the character interaction, we figured we'd at least eat from the ice cream bar! My DH and I really enjoyed our food and certainly did not experience any of the stale or lukewarm situations mentioned here and our dinner was not until 8:00pm!

As others have mentioned, try it for yourself and make your own opinion. IMHO the price of it was worth the character interaction alone.

Enjoy! :earsgirl:

Those of you who hated CM's offerings...did you go for dinner or breakfast? I originally had Breakfastosaurus booked, and saw bad reviews for it so then I switched to CM's...don't tell me I made yet another mistake!

We did not like the food at DINNER-- I have heard that breakfast is better, but would not try it myself ;)

We really like to food for breakfast much better than the food at dinner. It was better tasting and plentiful. I think the breakfast was a calliber a little better than Ponderosa or Golden Corral. Love the Micky Waffles!!!

I'm really taken back by some of these comments about Chef Mickeys. We really love it there. DS even picked to stay at the CR this trip since CM's is there. He loves that place and insists we eat there AT LEAST ONCE a trip. DH and I never have a problem either. We even picked it to celebrate DD's 2nd birthday this trip.

We really enjoyed Chef Mickey's both times we ate there. We actually preferred dinner, but we are not big breakfast eaters so that may be it. Maybe we are not picky I don't know, but both times the food was hot and fresh. I think everybody needs to try it at least once and make up their own minds. And if the food is truly inedible at Chef Mickey's or anywhere else, speak to a manager! My soon to be 11 year old son picked this out for his birthday dinner on October 14 so school food or not we will be there!

Chef Mickey's at one time was our favorite character meal, couldn't say enough good things about it. However, over the years the quality of the food served went downhill and fast. Granted the last time we ate there was 3 years ago, but after that experience I will never return. The food quality was I am sorry but about as good as a golden coral, amybe not even that good, and after finding little that was decent to eat - I reason but the desserts look great and we all know dessert is a must on vacation- well I go I get a piece of cake , a new fresh cake, it was the first piece and I have taken a few bites and right as I am about to take another bite I notice something sticking out of the cake- yeah a big black hair, not laying on top but was in the cake. Sent me to the bathroom....okay I'll skip the next thing that happened. When I returned, my party had explained what had happened to the server who quite frankly could have cared less. I asked for a manager who stated he wasn't quite sure what to do to make it better and I replied how bout comp my meal since it didn't stay down, which he did. Poor food, gross food, and lack luster management!!! Nope never ever again!!!

I could see giving it another try if we only had problems with one thing. However it wasn't just the food. As I said we were there 1 1/2 hrs before we saw any characters, and that was after another table complained several times.

We saw our serve 2 times. When he took our drink order and when he brought the check. Our table was never cleared of the piles of dishes (we kept going back hoping to find something we could eat). When he left our drinks (we were at the buffet)he left small juice carrafs with our refills. We all were out of drinks within the first 30 min or so.

As for speaking to a manager... LOL we would have to of found someone who actually gave a flip and went to get one. After spending over 2 hours in there, we were ready to get out.

I think the food is better than Golden Corral. They have prime rib, shrimp, and a few other nicer foods that make it better than the Corral. The dessert bar is very good. Personally though, I did not care for CM. I guess I went with too high expectations. We went to two buffets during our trip and I did't care for either of them.

I agree the food is better than the Golden Corral but it's not in the next higher category. The food is not on the same level as Boma, the buffet in Gaylord Palm's or the better Vegas buffets for example.

It's Golden Corral type quality with a few better items. It's a fun meal if your kids are the right age but don't expect great food.

The restaurant is always packed. I'd expect most of the time the food turns over fast enough to prevent spoilage.

We go to CM's every trip and we have done dinner & breakfast. We have never had a bad meal. Ever. It isn't a gourmet spread by any stretch of the imagination but how many ways can you screw up scrambled eggs and pancakes really? We've always had hot food and it is a fun environment. I think you should at least try it for yourself and decide.

We had a great time at Chef Mickey's. The food was hot and pretty darn tasty for a buffet. The mashed potatoes were delicious, fine prime rib, a yummy cheesy pasta. OP, you should try it for yourself and make up your own mind seeing that the opinions really run the gamut from awful to excellent with this place.
