Since there have been so many reviews lately about Chef Mickey's, good and bad... I am wondering: Which meal do you prefer?

I'm curious to see how this one turns out. We've got ADRs for both in January and are only keeping one...but which one? :confused3 I'm not sure. Hopefully your poll will help me out too!

I really prefer the breakfast....first, I really love their breakfast food, they make these rolled things that I just love, I would go just for those! I didn't care for the dinner choices as much. Also to ME, the times I've been it seemed a little less crowded at breakfast than dinner....but we tend to make later breakfast reservations, so that could be why. For my family, breakfast seems to work out better too because at breakfast, everyone is excited, up and ready to go, whereas at dinner someone might be tired or not hungry for a big meal, ect, ect...

Well we have done both............I like the breakfast better. They have an awesome very good spread. It just depends on what you want. The dinner is more expensive............I think kids are more refreshed in the morning and seem to enjoy it more unless you get there VERY EARLY and had a late night the night before. LOL Dinner is good....but I prefer to spend less and have the breakfast. I think Donald is only at dinner too......am I right on that one?

Well, we used to LOVE Chef Mickeys for any meal. I have 3 kids and it was their absolute FAVE restaurant. They would eat every meal there, every day if it were up to them.

BUT, on our last trip I booked Chef Mickeys as our grand finale meal for dinner and it was HORRID. I mean sticky, dirty, gross, greasy horrid. My 5 yr old told me her mac & cheese tasted like dirty socks. My 9 yr old and I were just turned off by the FATTY and actually slimy, almost transparent ham and nasty "prime rib".

I booked bfast there on our next trip (just to give that one another go as it was our tradition for the past 10 yrs - I have a 15 yr old son and that has been his favorite place to eat since he was a toddler!) and my kids were all grossed out at the thought of even trying the place again for bfast this time.

I am not going for dinner again. The place (carpet, chairs, table...) was sticky and dirty and crusted with food. The plates were dirty and wet. The characters were a disappointment, too. They used to spend some time with the kids and actually even come around a couple times. On this last experience of ours, we didn't even see them all. It was a bust.

Sorry for the bad news, but I think it has gone down hill a bit over the years. If you have been there as many times as we have, I think you will notice a difference. Maybe we just hit it on a BAD night....that's why I am willing to give it another try for a different meal.

Do you remember when it was located on either a different floor or a different location.......years ago...probably like 1992 or 93........it was different. I did like the breakfast better in Jan. but I have to agree........those character meals get crazy, they run you in and out pretty quick in my opinion. I think we are trying 1900 parkfare this go round. We liked it years ago.......more relaxed.

That's my situation(s) exactly. Our dinner is for 7:40 on our arrival night...maybe the kids will be tired and it will probably be packed, plus it's more expensive. Our breakfast is for 11:20 on a sleep-in day in the middle of the vacation. I'm leaning towards breakfast.

Well it depends..........you are more than likely going to be REALLY EXCITED TO BE THERE AND WHAT A BETTER WAY TO KICK OFF THE VACATION........but breakfast is cheaper, might be a great laid back morning for you to sleep in, eat late ....might be way less crowded at that time too for breakfast.

DH and I had the character breakfast and loved it....I love anything that involves meet and greets with the characters..... ::MickeyMo :cheer2: ::MinnieMo

Now I'm worried. We have loved Chef Mickey's breakfast in the past and I thought this time we would go for dinner. :confused3

We have ADR for next week. I'll let you know how it goes.

Four more sleeps :cool1:

We love the breakfast here, but hated the dinner! The food was very blah and the place was a zoo. It was dirty with food spilled everywhere. princess: pirate: :earboy2:

We have done breakfast at Chef Mickey's once and all of the rest of our visits have been dinner. We really like the selection of food for the dinner as do our boys. I am a firm believer in the trying things at least once so you can come to your own opinion. Everyone's tastes and feelings are different and you may end up passing an opportunity to do something just because someone else said they didn't like it. :confused3

Hey! There's no option for Niether, which is where I'd come down.

Sure, the character contact is great, but the food is mostly ordinary at best, aweful at worst. I have seen kids go up and fill their plates and bowls with nothing but sugar cereal and candy at breakfast; and their parents wonder why they are so badly behaved the rest of the day  Dinner was a little bit better, but there are plenty of buffets with good to great food at WDW, so no reason to settle for indifferent food at Chef Mickey's.

Can anyone share what characters are @ CM's??

Is there any web site that posts the characters for all the character meals??

A little background.....Im a little nervous about this...for the 1st time in my 34 yrs. going to WDW....I will be taking KIDS!! 3 little girls princess:

Yes..taking my extended family and feel like a "fish out of water" :fish: when it comes to planning for this vacation!!

Any character meal help is appreciated...especially princesses! princess: princess:

OOOPPSSS...maybe I should post somewhere else??

I love the breakfast b/c it is great to start the day with Mickey. Really gets you all pumped up and ready for some Magic. Also saves time in the parks hunting down or waiting in long lines for me to see the main mouse. Even if I know we are going for dinner, I can't wait, I have to see Mickey ASAP, that's why we usually try to do CM on our first morning.

CM characters are: Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Chip & Dale! :) Donald and sometimes Goofy usually just hang out near the entrance. The rest of them come around to the tables.

When we went to CM last year we met, Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Chip, Dale, and Donald.
For Princesses you want Storybook breakfast at Askerhus in Epcot (world showcase, norway) or Cinderella's Royal Table in the castle. If you are less than 90 days from your travel date, CRT will be a hard one to get espically with a large party.
