Chef Mickey - Family Style Serving Question

I have some really picky kids... Can I request to the server to bring the waffles separate from the bacon, sausage, etc? Pictures I've seen are they are served together since its family style now. I hate to ask if it's too much trouble for them or if not allowed.

I don't think it would be a problem. When you're seated ask for the items to be on separate plates.

We went there last week. My sister is a vegetarian and they brought her food on a separate platter so it didn't touch the meat. My brother doesn't like cheese so they got him potatoes from the Contempo (apparently the Chef Mickey's hash browns are premade with the cheese and you can't get it without). They were very accommodating, you should have no problem requesting waffles on a separate platter.

We went for dinner last week at Chef Mickey's. Pretty horrible service, the only good thing was the characters interaction, the food was awful, and there are no family pictures with the Chef Mickey Plate. Definitely not worth the money in my opinion now and we won't do it again until it goes back to buffet. I really hate the serving plate approach. We had 5 people and as soon as the plate is put down, good stuff gone quickly and basically asking for more of certain things before the plate hits the table. The food choices were garbage as well. So disappointed we spent all that money on this crappy meal, live and learn I guess....

I guess that goes to show how everyone has a totally different experience. We had dinner there a few weeks ago and it was the best time I've had it. Lots of variety of veggies in the appetizers and entrees for us, I found the quality of food way better than our last visit.

I could see how just setting one plate of each for 5 would be annoying though. Do they start with the same amount regardless of if it's 2, 4, or 5 adults? We were a party of 4 and I felt like more could have been added to the plates too (especially for popular sides) and definitely not enough dessert served either.

Did you ask for them to bring more?

Yes, but it was an issue because they had to bring out a full plate (the rest we didn't need) and also DH and I both wanted extras of the same thing, so there wasn't much of that specific item brought out again.

Anyway, I don't want to complain much about it, I just understand where the previous poster was coming from on that issue.

Overall, I have awesome memories of my experience there and plan to go again on our next trip this Spring. The character dining was amazing, it was so fun and upbeat (just like 2019 or even better), and the food was delicious. We were considering Cinderella's Royal Table for our visit but I'm so glad we went here instead.

That's a shame, that's not how they did it at breakfast. We were able to just ask for particular items at different times and have them bring those out (fruit salad, bacon, eggs, pancakes). Seems very wasteful to have to bring out a whole plate each time when 1-2 people in the party just want a refill of one thing!

Okay, now I'm questioning how I asked for extra. I just assumed (since I saw all the plates at the buffet) they would just give you another plate (they did the same at Garden Grill when we visited in 2019, but at that time we didn't request it, I think the server just noticed we were finished).

I'm pretty sure I just requested extra and didn't even consider asking for extra of one item. Could be just an error on my part.

They definitely will. We have asked for that bc my son has an egg allergy and I don't want the egg to touch the rest and they are fine with it.
