Am I wrong?
The vibe was kind of blah. Only 2 characters were out and about when I was checking it out. The buffet looked marginal.

For calibration--I love Goofy's Kitchen at Disneyland. Chef Mickey didn't look or feel anything like that.

For those who have been there--what are your thoughts? Have I misread the place. I have an ADR for Feb and am thinking of cancelling it.

Looking for a great character breakfast. We've been to Crystal Palace so wanted to try something else. Open to any and all suggestions!!

I agree with you. I didn't like the "vibe" at Chef Mickey's- too noisy, too chaotic, too disorganized. But my DH and DD liked it and have wanted to go back.

I did like the breakfast and character interaction at 'Ohana much much better, despite it featuring the odious Stitch.

We went to breakfast at Chef Mickey for the first time in September. I was surprised at how shabby and run down it was. The food wasn't nearly as good as Ohana or Crystal Palace breakfasts. We even liked 1900 Park Faire better than Chef Mickey. I felt like we HAD to try it since its so popular, but I was really surprised at how lousy it was!

It's been a few years since we've been to Chef Mickey, but when we went, we loved it. There were a lot of characters and a great celebration for the kids to enjoy. The food was nothing to write home about, but it was everything the kids loved. The experience was for ther enjoyment and not exactly adult friendly.

We plan on going back on our next trip and I hope it has not gone downhill since we were there last. The reviews do have me conserned; it has always been one of our favorite stops.

Can't beat the Chef Mickey characters. The breakfast is what the kids like. Nothing gourmet here, but good eating regular breakfast foods.

They have a pretty good coffee too.

No character meal at WDW is as good as Goofy's Kitchen.
Just remember that and you'll be fine! Low expectations.

ETA: I am still ok with going to character meals at WDW but GK was just awesome each and every time DH and I went that nothing really compares to it in my mind. CM's is a sad disappointment if you go expecting GK. It's ok, but just not great comparatively.
I have enjoyed the Cape May Cafe breakfast. Not nearly as many characters, but the interactions were closer to those at GK. Food selection isn't as widespread but none of it was bad.

We loved Chef Mickey's. Food was very good, hot, tasty and refilled constantly.
Atmosphere was pretty good, no more noisy than other character meals.

Had the "fab 5" visit us. Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto.

Will go there again in Feb. 2011

Hit the Tusker Breakfast - food is great, some unique items (CM is really poor golden coral type quality). Tusker's not packed in like sardines like at CM, so much more comfortable.

Tusker has Mickey, Donald and Daisy who you don't get other places.

General,

Have to agree 100%. We were there a few weeks ago and truly the most disappointing meal of our month long trip. We had breakfast there and left without that disney high. :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

The atmosphere is strange not a fun exciting one you usually get with character meals. I think the layout does not help with the atmosphere.

The decore is looking tired and worn out. The place needs a good clean and fresh coat of paint.

The buffet was very poor for choice and quality. Service was the only high point, our servers was great.

There are much better choices for character meals.
