We will be at HHI from 12/26-1/1. Does anyone know if Chef Gordon still does any programs?

He did none in April the week we were there this year. We had done "A Private Affair' with him our first three trips there. It was wonderful. We were scheduled for it again in April 05, and he called to cancel it shortly before that trip and there were no food classes offered either. And then in April of 06 there was not any of his food activities offered, but he was there. I am not hopeful for this for any upcoming trips. He is our favorite CM -- it is always great seeing him there, and he is wonderful with dining recommendations.

There is a new CM (and unfortunately it's too early in the morning for me to remember her name!) who does the "Member Mick's Ear" now, but I'm not sure how often that is offered. It may be on the schedule while you're there, since that's a pretty busy time.

Add me to the list of people who miss having Gordon's programs... both A Private Affair and the wine tastings and cooking classes. But Gordon can often be found up in the Mercantile and is more than happy to have people stop by to say "hi"!

:wave2:

Does anyone have any idea why Chef Gordon is no longer doing the "Private Affair" dinner and other cooking classes at HHI. We saw him over the holidays in the Mcercantile and he would not elaborate but just said that "they" made a change. I miss the the classes and dinner.

For you fellow Chef Gordon fans, here's a picture of him at one of the last Private Affairs he did:

We were very fortunate to get one of his last in March, 2005, for DH's birthday. When we were at the resort at Thanksgiving, he was in the Mercantile, but he wasn't doing any programs.

We heard from him over the Holidays. He is doing well and does have lots of new responsibilities at the resort as well as some opportunities at WDW during the F&W among other things.

The cooking programs are not offered at this time , but I'm certainly hopeful that something similar can be again offered in the future. We really enjoyed the "Private Affair" events held originally in the GV model (prior to the sales office closing at HH) and also at the Beach House. I suspect that the limited nature of that event and the necessity for Gordon to have sole responsibility played a role in the demise of the program. We do miss that, but always enjoy talking with Gordon when at HH. He is one of a handfull of original CMs at the resort and is a wealth of knowledge for the resort, the HH resort and the whole local area and is great about helping with dining (and cooking) recommendations and suggestions.

Now I know what "Simba's Mom" looks like -- we always seem to go right after you to HH and I love reading your trip reports as our trip approaches. Was hoping to meet you this Thanksgiving, but we had to cancel our trip there.

You did indeed have one of the last "A Private Affairs", I remember reading about it, hopeful that Chef Gordon wasn't going to cancel ours, but he did eventually cancel. What a disappointment after doing them three years in a row. Oh, those crabcakes! Even though I can make them here, it is just not the same as having Gordon prepare them for us at the beach house.

This year we will be there in March instead of April, and we can't wait!
