Chefs de France --long time WDW favorite restaurant of mine.

And always a fun place to celebrate a birthday--but disappointed last week when for DD 11 birthday they just brought out 3 cookies with a candle in it? Just in August while celebrated a nieces 11 birthday they brought out a creme de brulee or so? Why go cheap?

Were people abusing the birthday celebrations?

That put a damper on things or was it the group of 4 young adults drinking wine (3p in the afternoon) like it was going out of style and getting loud and a little crazy. Just that cleared half the folks out of the restaurant and I guess when they started to use colorful language it cleared out the other half? I saw a few tables with perhaps nibbles eaten from them. I saw the manager approach the table a couple of times as well???

Who knows?

I do think that Disney is cutting back a bit on the birthday treats. Mainly because there are so many people who have found out (like from these boards) that Disney might do something special for it.

As for the people drinking the wine and being loud, I would have laughed. Think about it - how were they going to feel the next morning? Horrible way to wake up on a Disney vacation. I would just picture them heading for Mission:Space and having to use the barf bags. If you can't change the situation, turn it around into something you can laugh at.

I think I saw somewhere WDW were advertising you can order a special birthday cake to be served in one of their restaurants? So, maybe they are saying order this or get cookies??? I still think it cheap. How many other restaurants around would do the same?

The drunken party: yeah I think it was somewhat funny and for sure something you don't see very much at WDW nor any 'fancy' restaurant. And surely these people were having fun but I think you overstep the line when you start cursing loudly?

When we went for DS birthday years ago he only got a cupcake at chef Mickeys & he was more than pleased. Maybe is depends on the server, maybe when your niece was there they had extra creme de brulee & this time they didn't or maybe the server thought your DD would like the cookies better.

Yeah, Dd was pleased just that they sang to her in French--and surely wasn't any wiser with her cookies
