I heard a story about American ex-pats that live in Beijing and are cheese lovers and have a "cheese club". "Dairy" foods aren't really available in China due to the lack of grazing land for cows. So club members bring in cheese with them when they return from overseas. When someone brings in a suitcase 1/2 filled with cheese they hold a "meeting" to enjoy it. After the tasting party there's a cheese quiz and the loser gets a jar of Cheese Wiz!
This was considered one of the dinners my DF would make for us....although we would have grilled cheese whiz. The other was ground hamburg and mayo on bread.
Tried grilled cheese whiz again 20 years later....icky!!!
I'll never buy another jar............................
YOu know its cousin is Velveta....mmm they do not even have to refrigerate it. I LOVE Velveta. My husband is into gourmet cheese Morbias, Camembert, Brie, Motrachet.....but me give me VELVETA on macaroni. OMG
dh lived on this and fluff in college, though they called it "sleezy cheez".......oh and his roomate was a horticulture major..he really really loved this stuff,
I used to eat this spread on potato chips when I was a kid. And I don't mean heated up and dipped but taking a knife and spreading it on. It was pretty good even though not very good for you. Come to think of it I still do this once in a while.
