Hi all -

I know that one of the items you can order from room service is the "All Hands on Deck" which is a platter of international cheeses. Has anyone ever ordered this before? Do you remember which cheeses were served?

Thanks!
Meredith

Brie, gouda, cheddar..it was great..sometimes there are not enough crackers though so you might want to ask for more when you order..ENJOY :)

We love this platter, and often get it for an afternoon or evening snack. If I recall correctly, on the Magic it often included cheddar, swiss, brie and blue. I often order it with extra brie and crackers. In addition to the cheese and crackers, it has some grapes and maybe a kiwi or other fruit. When we sailed on the Wonder just 3 weeks after sailing on the Magic, we were saddened to see that the Wonder didn't have brie so we didn't order it more than one or two times.

We last had it on the Magic in December, and on the Wonder in January, so someone more recent may be able to chime in depending on which ship you are on.

I love my cheese, especially for breakfast. Had it recently on the Wonder. It was good. As a PP stated, they could have had more crackers to cleanse the palate between cheeses, but otherwise, its OK. Wish they would have had a cheese cart after dinner as I like my cheese for dessert too. But if at dinner you ask for it, they can bring it out. I rather it this way as I hate to spend time in the stateroom waiting for food.

This is my fav Room Service item! My family always knows I have to have one of these at some point each day on the cruise. On our last cruise I also asked for extra crackers and they provided them with no problem. I love the fruit with it and some of the ship's coffee (I know, some people hate that coffee, but I have a cheap palate :rotfl: I like their coffee), it's a great snack. I'm glad someone asked what type cheeses are served, I wondered the same thing the other day when I was at the store and thought how I'd love to make one of the platters for guests.

All food is free through room service but there is a charge for sodas ordered through room service. You can get lemonade for free though. The platter included some grapes and a baby bell, some crackers, and a few other cheeses.

Sometimes you will see the content of the platter vary quite a bit. On the Magic this year I ordered one and it only came with SALTINES....yes, a few celephane packets like you get with soup in a restaurant.:scared1:

Just so happend I was chatting with a food and beverage office a few days later and he asked how things were going, so I did mention it (and my surprise at seeing it). He was tad surprised himself! He grabbed his tiny pencil and notepad and said "oh, that won't be happening again" :upsidedow

.

So excited to hear it is free!!! The room service cheese on NCL is for a fee but the cheese after dinner (served alongside of dessert) is free. If I can have warm cookies and cheese in my room at night... I will be a fat happy lady. How much weight can I lose in the next 13 months???

Sorry to get a bit off topic but I have looked at the room services menus before (they all cryptically state that there is a charge for some items but don't indicate what... hence my guess on the cheese platter)... are the M&Ms and popcorn free too?

Thank you for mentioning that --- from all us upcoming cruisers! :worship::worship:

I love ordering that while getting ready, DD showered, blow drying hair ;) :woohoo: I have asked for more crackers because how can you tell you DD to "DON'T EAT ALL THE CRACKERS!" ;) They can't help it ;) No matter what you order for them - they will still take the crackers :rotfl2: But Saltine crackers?

Is the BLT sandwich still wonderful? :cloud9:

The M & M's and popcorn are not free. There is a section on the rooom service menu, such as candy, soda, wine, and beer, that are available, but for a charge.

The cheese platter is my favorite room service menu...we always order 2 each time and ask for extra fruit on the platter.

Side notes...lunch at Beach Blanket/Topsiders usually has a few different cheeses to choose from daily as well. In addition, Palo brunch has an incredible cheese buffet. The cheese tray you can pre-order to be in your staterooom is a nice one as well-we got as a gift once, but since we can get free onboard, no sense in paying for it.

I thought I rememberd seeing different cheeses offered on the dessert menu in one/some of the restaurants....or my mind may be playing tricks on me again!

We always order this and we were a bit surprised on the April 2010 Wonder sailing to get saltines but they did take ours out of the package:lmao: Oh well my DD's enjoyed them:)

They do have on some of the dessert menus...especially Triton's/Lumier's. I usually find it under the sugar free section.

I was on the Wonder July 15th and ordered the plate twice. And they were both different, crackers and cheeses!! One time, they DID have brie, one time they had baby bell....one time they had bleu, the other time, not. So, I don't think this is specific, just depends...

We just had the cheese plate on the Wonder last week, we chose it as the Platinum gift. There were plenmty of crackers, 3 different type and none of them saltines. The Brie was AWESOME. Wish I had taken a picture. It was delivered the afternoon of our last day so we took it to dinner and shared with our tablemates.

This is my favorite thing to order from room service too. Brie is my fav cheese so I have to have that. I always keep some in the house and have cheese and crackers as an evening snack. Darn Magic got me started on that habit.:rotfl2: When we sailed on 2 other lines, the cheese plate cost quite a bit extra (like $8) so I look forward to ordering on my next DCL.

Just fresh off the Wonder Fri AM......Our friends had the cheese platter and brought it to dinner - I will have my DH post the pic of it. There was a plate of 5 cheeses, which was accompanied with an entire plate of crackers (no saltines!). There were some grapes in the center as well. We didn't get a chance to order the All Hands on Deck cheese plate from Room Service. The one they got for being Platinum cruisers was HUGE.

Look for the pic from ssanders79.

I love the cheese platter - we probably get one every day. This is a pic of a larger cheese platter that they gave us for doing back-to-back cruises. But it's essentially double the size (or slightly more than double) of a typical cheese platter. Always feel free to order more than one. It seemed most days the cheese platter was slightly different (either a different type of cheese included or different crackers.)
