Cheese on TOP of the toppings? That's just wrong isn't it?

This ONE place near me puts the crust, sauce, toppings then the cheese!

I hate it! lol.

It bugs me because their pizza tastes great but I can't stand to look at it. It just looks like a plain cheese pizza because all the toppings are hidden. How are you supposed to know what's really on there if it is covered in cheese?

The owner has had the pizzeria for 30 years so I guess he knows more about pizza making than I do, but seriously.

Is this common?

I'm going to even do a poll. Yes this is bothering on a Sunday afternoon. It is my pet peeve of the day. Must be all that Christmas stress, lol.

I prefer to have the toppings on top of the cheese ... but on a side note, since you like their pizza and probably don't won't to stop ordering from them, have you ever asked them to make the pizza to your liking? ... I'm sure they probably wouldn't mind at all ...

I prefer the cheese on top. It helps keep my toppings from falling off when I pick up the pizza slice. Most places, though, put the the toppings on top.

I don't like cheese on the top because I am picky and want to look to be sure i am not getting any of the many toppings I cannot or will not eat (no pork or beef, no olives, no mushrooms. . .). If i am sure about what they put on I don't mind it though. It seems everywhere we have lived has had a couple of places that do it this way.

I come from an award winning pizza restaurant (several locations) and cheese is put on top, as well as on bottom. Lots of cheese!

When I make pizza at home I put the cheese on top. It gets nice and brown that way and soooo good

Doesn't matter at all.

But a good pizza has lots and lots and lots and lots cheese, so even if the cheese is on the bottom, the toppings sink into a sea of cheese.

when i make homemade pizza, i put the cheese on top, to hold the toppings on. however, when i order a pizza, i expect toppings on the top...not sure why. i buy a great frozen pizza from wal-mart, the great value brand, it's a mega meat pizza, but DH doesn't think it has enough pepperoni, so i add more to to it, then he always says he wishes i'd add some cheese as well, so the pepperoni doesn't slide off, lol.

As long as the pizza is good I don't see why it would even matter

For what it is worth every pizza place I go to puts cheese on both the top and the bottom; keeps the toppings on the pizza.

I think ideally, lots of cheese, toppings, then a sprinkling of more cheese. The top sprinkling could have more types of cheese in it for color.

I like lots of cheese - most of it under the toppings, but a sprinkling of cheese on top of the toppings. This is the best of both worlds: you can still see the toppings, but you also have some brown, bubbly, crispy cheese on top. Mmmm. I'm hugry just thinking about it!

And when I make a home made pizza, I do the same. then after it;'s done baking, I broil it to make it brown and bubbly!

I am the odd man out here regarding cheese. I don't care where you put it, just don't put too much of it. Not real fond of the stuff, just a little please, as too much covers up the taste of all the other good stuff.
