Love this quote from Bill Maher:

I don't dislike children; I just don't particularly want to be around them a lot. The problem is, neither do their parents. And I'm tired of being constantly, involuntarily deputized into the fight to keep your kids away from adult pleasures. "It takes a village." That's just a saying. Us other villagers are busy, okay? I have other things to do in the village.

I LOVE that!!

"It's just that I never wanted children. I don't know why, I've never been shrunk so I've never gone into it. I was never drawn to babies. The only dolls I played with as a child were grown up dolls. I would have loved a Barbie if they'd been around when I was a little girl. And my skin still crawls when I see a little girl hauling around a big baby doll. You see this little five-year-olds with huge, great, monstrous, disgusting baby dolls. I want to go up and rip them out of their hands...."

I love that quote. And she's a great actress. See "The Queen" if you haven't already!:thumbsup2

I remember that a long time ago I posted a list of famous CF people on the board and someone called it the "most pathetic thing" they ever saw. If they said that about a list of African-Americans, gays or Jewish people, they wouldn't get away with it. But it's "okay" to bash the CF.:sad2:

sounds like someone might have been thinking that they made the wrong choice.....nothing like an inappropriate reaction to show those latent issues...

I find it so funny when I see a list of Childfree people and there is always a BUNCH on Children's book authors on there...I love it. You can like kids without wanting any.

I had my nieces over yesterday (7 and 11) and we went for ice cream, they came back to my house to see my cats, we played a board game and then they went home...I loved it. 2 hours, $20, and I was the most popular aunt around.

I don't want kids but I love my nieces very much...I am just happy I can drive them home to my DB and DSIL...:upsidedow

My DN tells me all the time that I'm the "coolest Aunt" ever. She's nearly 21 now and we have had great times together since she was a baby. In 19 days, we're going on another DVC vacation! (not that I'm excited or anything..)

I'm the "cool" aunt too! Isn't it great? And I was pretty young when my nieces were all born (16 when the first was born) so I can relate more to them I think at times...sometimes it seems my sister forgot what it was like to be 19! I remember it clearly.

Almost got into a heated argument with a very good friend who USUALLY is very respectful of my love for my furbabies, but she said people shouldn't bring their big dogs to STREET fairs because "there are CHILDREN (said in that we must worship them tone) there!!!!" I said, As long as the dog is well behaved and not aggressive why in the world shouldn't he be allowed at a street fair? "Kids might be scared"...I said, "Well, they'll never get over their fear if you KEEP THEM Away sheltered" and "So people need to keep their dogs home because SOME child might be afraid?" Um, no....of course NO dog should be allowed to approach anyone without them giving permission, but I have the right to walk my dog on the street...and yes, at an outdoor fair.

I've heard stuff like that too. How about parents keep their damn kids away from the dogs if it's such a "danger"? Oh wait..that would mean that the parents would actually have to DO SOMETHING...silly me!

So what are all you childfree people doing on Mothers Day (or NonMothers day)?

I will be at Vero Beach with my Mom, my Dad and my DN-who is the closest thing I'll ever have to a child. We're going to brunch at the resort, Mom will be getting flowers in her room and a gift card for AC Moore. After 3 days there, we'll be moving on to WDW!!!! :cool1:

Since my mom passed away, we go to Mass and then my whole family goes to the cemetery. After that, we'll take MIL out shopping.

I am working till 05:00am on Mothers Day. I will be sleeping until 1:00pm. That is probably it for me. DH and I would normally go out for dinner on Sunday but not this one. Every single restaurant will be packed.
