It's Cheer up. Here's the lyrics for the first verse and chorus:
oh, i could hide 'neath the wings
Of the bluebird as she sings.
The six o'clock alarm would never ring.
Whoops its ringing and i rise,
Wipe the sleep out of my eyes.
My shavin' razor's cold and it stings.
Cheer up, sleepy jean.
Oh, what can it mean.
To a daydream believer
And a homecoming queen.
You once thought of me
As a white knight on a steed.
Now you know how happy I can be.
Oh, and our good times start and end
Without dollar one to spend.
But how much, baby, do we really need.
Cheer up, Sleepy Jean.
Oh, what can it mean.
To a daydream believer
And a homecoming queen.
Cheer up, Sleepy Jean.
Oh, what can it mean.
To a daydream believer
And a homecoming queen.
[Instrumental interlude]
Cheer up, Sleepy Jean.
Oh, what can it mean.
To a daydream believer
And a homecoming queen.
Isn't that just the greatest song?! I'm 38 years old, and I don't know anyone in my age bracket who doesn't love that song or Davey Jones. Does anyone else remember the scene in The Brady Bunch movie where Davey's singing at Marcia's school dance, and all the women teachers rush the stage? I'm sure there are a lot of us here who would've done the same thing!

Oh me too! And you'll all hate me when I tell you I had dinner with Davy Jones a few years ago. A friend who was the manager at a radio station sponsoring his concert invited me to have dinner with him and Davy. He was a great guy and very entertaining. At an oldies concert a couple of years ago he was signing autographs and actually remembered me!

I love that song on the TV show when they start fighting over who gets in front of the camera at the end of it. They are my favorite group ever ever ever, since I was 3, and it saddens me that a lot of my students now have no idea who they are. But Micky is my favorite.

I can't believe you guys hadn't heard that story! I tell it on every "have you ever met a celebrity" thread!
I'm afraid I don't know which commercial you are referring to. Someone enlighten me?
Monkees related: I was driving with my 6 yr old nephew one day when the new version of I'm a Believer came on the radio. Ian was singing along. I told him that the Monkees originally did that song. He looked at me like I was an absolute IDIOT and said "NawNaw ( no one knows where he got that name for me) that's the song from Shrek and there's no monkeys in Shrek!!!"
