I just watched that movie last weekend. It was a terrific film. I was suprised how much I enjoyed it. I am amazed that they would do a movie like that involving people who are still very much alive and kicking. It didn't portray everyone very well.

We had a good discussion between us after we watched it about how various people were portrayed. I think of all the majors, the Blairs & Prince Charles comes off as being portrayed as most "friendly". I think the movie was too good in how it portrayed Charles, though. Diana was known to throw stuff back at the "Establishment" and could give as much as she received, if not better, as far as the crap they'd pull amongst themselves. We also have different ideas about the 'meaning' of the stag side-story.

Squiggy can be our mascot!

My daughter and I applied for our passports this morning. there is about a 12 week waiting period right now. Jacqui is going on a short 4 day cruise in December with her boyfriend, JD. So she needs her passport a lot sooner than I do. I'm not going until March 2008.

My mom only has her birth certificate short card from when she got married in 1949. So I have to apply for a long form through vital records, either that, we have to go into City Hall in Boston.

I'm watching the Biggest Loser on Style network and getting inspired!!!!:woohoo:

I like "DJ Funky Feet" myself.

I forgot to mention - last week we got the kids a pet hamster each, which they each got to pick out. Adam's is named "Darth Hammy", "he's" dark grey (I suggested "Anakin Hammakin", since he decided to go with the Star Wars route). Katie's is named "Angel", "she's" white but not albino (eyes are dark, not pink). About two hours after we got home we realized the sexes of each should be switched, judging by Angel's mounting of Darth Hammy. The pet store has a policy of buying back any hamlets that may come, good thing...

So, jeanny, where will you be cruising to?

we're going to San Juan, St. Thomas & Grand Turk... unfortunately not on the Magic, one because there's no casino for my daughter's boyfriend. and we got a half-way decent price on Carnival.

This will only be my second cruise. but I'm just as excited as the first!

Nice names for the hamsters GD! :thumbsup2 I think my hamster was named the very original "Fluffy". He bit me.

Jeanny, that whole passport thing is a mess. Good thing you are starting early. I'm dealing with a client regarding that right now.

I had a friend whose mother didn't have a birth certificate because of where she was born (rural, records destroyed in fire, etc.) so they had to go to the passport agency with a family Bible to use as an official record. It was very stressful for them, but she got her passport.

I really didn't pay much thought to the stag story, the whole hunting thing with Phillip irriated me anyway. I agree about Charles, he was portrayed in a better light than my image of him. I don't doubt that he grieved but he just seems like such a prat.

OMG! Speaking of cruises and casinos, I have to tell you this story...
A friend of mine took a cruise with her DH, DS18 and DD20. Also along were her mom and her sister and her family.
Friend's DD20 roomed with the grandma.
Well. It didn't take long for the DD20 to discover the casino. She took a little cash out via the room charge key. About $75. No big deal. Promptly lost that to the casino and took out more cash. Over and over. Each time she took cash, of course, it came off the credit card they had tied to the room--her grandmother's credit card.
On the last day of the cruise, the room charge bill comes to the room. When she realized that her brother had received and was looking over the bill, she ran screaming (and naked) out of the shower for him to drop the bill. In horror, he obliged and of course covered his eyes (and started with the gagging noises). She grabbed the bill and locked herself in the bathroom until she had worked up the nerve to show it to her mom.
That girl took a total of, are you sitting down?

$4935.50 in cash off that credit card.
Lost every penny.
She is now working her bootay off to pay her grandmother back at a rate of $250 per month. For the rest of her life?
Can you imagine????????

 That was probably double (or triple) the cost of her cruise! Once you start earning that money for yourself, you don't throw it away as easily. :sad2:

I'm thinking Will and I are going to the matinee today to Rata...Rattato, Rattatu, that rat-in-the-kitchen-movie. Susan, didn't you say you saw that?
And I actually have plans for the weekend that involve a destination more exotic than Wal-Mart and J.C.Penney's. We're going to New Orleans, ahem, N'awlins, right Tricia? Thanks to Tricia, I found an interesting restaturant to check out. I've never been to N.O. and am curious to see the sights and contribute to the re-birth of the city by doing lots of eating and shopping. It is going to be a very quick trip though. We'll drive down (I think it's about 6 or 7 hours from here) on Friday afternoon. And come home Sunday noonish. I pick up some pralines for you all.

Yeah, and she's now earning it the hard way. At some crappy convenience store "in the middle of the sticks". That's Arkansas talk for "some place you don't want to be"!

I think we're going to try to do a modified double-feature this weekend - all of us see "Rat-in-the-Kitchen", and then Adam & I go see "Transformers".

I love that idea GD. Surely the girls can find a movie for a double feature of their own. Now the trick will be to try to get your refillable coke and popcorn refilled for the 2nd show. Is that doable?

Off to see the rat.
That just doesn't sound as promising as "off to see the mouse".;)

I saw Ratatouille and didn't *love* it but it was ok. It was worth seeing. As for New Orleans, I was there in 2001 and I loved it! It is a very unique city. I like the rum pralines the best. :rolleyes1

Hi.

Wow, it has been a whole year, hasn't it?! Ahhh, the memories that are coming back.... LOL

It's at #33 on the imdb's Top 250 movies of all time list. Not sure how they weigh the voting.

The irony (which probably isn't really ironic at all) is that it's my birthday, so this day lives in infamy in more than just one way for me. LOL

I'm so glad that no freaks ever showed up in this thread. Well, except for Fab and I.

Is she MIA also?
