All the other 'adults' around here think we're freaks. Plus, I have some snooty, full-of-themselves architects looking down their noses at us (well, me - like the fact that I like Disney means I'm giving away some of my designer's 'street cred' or something). But when I mention the fact that Beach Club resort was designed by Robert A.M. Stern (a famous, well-respected architect from NYC), that shuts 'em the hell up. FYI, Swan & Dolphin were designed by Michael Graves, who is considered one of the 'fathers' of post-modernism.

And along that note, one of my firm's projects was in the March 2007 issue of "Architectural Record". "Record" is one of two national magazines, it's the equivalent of "Time" for the general. If you've been to our website, it's the Market Square stage reroof, with the funky canopy lighting system.

But wait, don't get too impressed... Technically, it's a photo of the project in an ad for the lighting system in the advertisements section (and we're not credited for the photo, but I'll have our attorney contact that company so that if the ad runs again with our project's photo we are credited), but it IS in the issue... Not many Knoxville-based architects are ever in an issue. It's a joke around the office - we think we'll put a blurb "...as featured in Architectural Record" on this year's volleyball shirts later this summer.

I think of it like Mike Wasowski in "Monsters Inc." - "We're on the cover of (whatever the magazine was called)!" all excited - and Mike is blocked by the UPC code.

I love Fridays. And it's a beautiful day. And I'm driving my car today - T-tops out and windows down later! And we're going to see "Meet the Robinsons" tonight. And we're celebrating my daughter's birthday this weekend (her birthday is April 8 which she shares with her Papaw, but her Papaw has to work next weekend).

I'm so glad it's Friday, and it's starting with a bang. I just found out that Royal Caribbean cancelled two of my bookings for no reason. The fax said it was for lack of final payment but final wasn't due until June. I'm on hold right now and I'm not happy.

I don't care about pajama days every now and then at school. I think it's cute. But *** is the deal with the people who wear jammie bottoms out as a typical piece of clothing? See 'em at Kroger, Target & Walmart all the time. God bless you if you're too dang lazy to slip on a real pair of pants when you go out.

I kind of got it settled. They re-instated the booking but already sent the checks back. So, I have to wait for the checks then call in a company credit card before next Friday to secure the booking. I'm irritated that it happened but I am glad I don't have to worry about it anymore today.

Since we are sharing other threads we were reading today, I am still a sucker for that "Does Suri Exist" thread. Oh, I love a good conspiracy!
