Waterparks and more - upgrading to AP?

This is hopefully my last upgrading question.
We are considering upgrading to annual passes during our upcoming trip. After asking about park pass reservations/LLMP reservations, I had basically decided that IF we do it, we will do it early in the trip to take advantage of AP discounts. But then I realized this morning…we have park hopper plus tickets (so have access to waterparks, mini golf, etc.). How does this work if we upgrade? Will we be able to still use these entitlements? Will we lose them? We were planning to hit a waterpark at least once and possibly mini golf as well on this trip.

If you don’t add the water park option to your AP you will lose that access when you upgrade. And if you enter a water park before you upgrade you will have to add the water park option to your AP.

If you use any of the "plus" entitlements prior to upgrading to the AP, you can only upgrade to an AP that includes the "water park and sports" option (extra $99 + tax).

If you don't use any of the "plus" options on your PH+ before upgrading to a standard AP, you will lose the ability to participate in the waterparks or minigolf later in the trip without paying additional admission for those activities.

With either option, will they at least apply the extra cost I paid for the option towards the AP, or do I just lose the extra cost?

Yes, your existing ticket has credit value of a PH+ regardless of the new ticket to which you upgrade.
