How’s it going? Long time, no chat (for me at least).
So far, here’s what I’ve been doing the last couple of weeks.
An ice creamery / catering / sandwich & coffee shop (done & in for owner’s review & comment)
A photography studio (I should be done later tonight / tomorrow morning & then send it in for owner’s review & comment)
An advertising firm’s office (I met with them yesterday and will start on it tomorrow)
Also, we just converted the office from a wireless network to a cabled network. The installer finished up about 2:00 on Friday, and I went ‘live’ with the network about 2:30 on Friday. So now I’m working out the technical glitches as the come. So far the worst problem is one computer that gets disconnected at the exact same time every day. But I think I’ve got that problem solved (I’ll know at about 6:30 tonight). It is a much more reliable connection and the speed difference is great! Blazing hot SPEED!!!
Could y’all help me out with something? We’re redoing our website (
www.smeebusby.com) and we’d like people to give us feedback about speed-of-loading issues. We’ve got local friends with DSL & cable connections checking it out, but the more feedback we get the better, yaknowwhutImean? Just an idea if a page takes 5 seconds, or 10 seconds, or 45 minutes to load - and on what kind of connection… We’re shooting for an average of 3 seconds, so this will give us a clue how we’re doing in comparison.
The pages we’re really interested in are “Gallery” and how fast those photos load. FYI, the projects that are/were ‘mine’ are Our Office (1st row, 1st one), Cannon County HS Addition (1st row, 3rd one), Bread Box Prototype (1st row, last one), and Cabana Key Condos (2nd row, 2nd one).
Another one we’re concerned with is located in “Other Fun Stuff”. Click the photo of the Market Square, and it will load photos shot out our windows of some of the concerts last year (it even has a photo of our Elvis ‘performing’). This is the longest loading page (about 20-30 seconds) on our website. But since it’s just for “fun”, we’re not REAL concerned about speed-of-loading – most of our potential clients are going to be in the Gallery anyway.

Added bonus: there’s a photo of me on it. Go to “Who We Are” and click on the photo of the guys. This will load photos of everybody in our firm – I’m the third person down, and KAMommy is the fourth person down.
Anyway, here’s the reason:
We’re hosting our website on our own server, and this will let us know if we need somebody with much better/faster equipment to host it for us.
And last (but CERTAINLY not least):

We’re 30 days out from WDW! Yippee!
