Checking out Early-- Days Early?

So DH mentions today that he was thinking -- just thinking mind you-- that when the rest of our Grand Gathering leaves after only 5 days, if -- just IF mind you-- we had seen everything we wanted to see, and the DD's didn't have anything else they wanted to see, we could always leave then (Saturday, instead of the following Wednesday) and check out a lot of Florida's coast-- head down Key West way...:lmao: So I'm sitting in the truck thinking, 'Hmmm...started planning this one 635 days out...we have 15 days until we leave...he and my DD's have never been to Disney-- just Six Flags, Silver Dollar City-- and he thinks we can 'see it all' in 5 days??' So after I recovered sufficiently and started inhaling again, I said, "Tell you what...If on Friday, when everyone else is wrapping up their trip, if you and the girls are truly done with WDW, I'm fine with that. We'll head out and tour our way back home."

So this begs the question: If I am paying in full upon check-in (Room Only), have no DDP to blow off, my Park Tickets are 10 day passes so the economics of losing the last 5 days are less than $10 apiece--will they refund the nights that we don't stay? Anyone do it before? I certainly hope we don't do this as I will probably croak right there and have to be tied to the roof like the aunt in Vacation. I think the fact that our 40th Birthday trip to Hawaii turned iunto a Grand Gathering for 15 at WDW may be sinking in for him now. Either that or he plans to put the house on the market as we leave and just stay in Key West...He's always had that dream...

So-- refund anyone? Just not sure if there is a penalty or ??

Thanks!

We had to check out early one time due to sick kids, they were very understanding about it. I don't know how they would do if you just decided to check out that early though. I know we tried to do that at the beach this summer, they said , too bad and kept our $300 for the night we decided not to stay. Other resorts we have stayed in are even worse, the cabin we have rented for next week is even worse, within 30 days you are stuck, they keep your deposit in escrow for up to two years and you can rebook but no refunds and no changes allowed.

I had to check out of CSR early because the boss didn't like the hotel. They had no problems crediting the difference back to my credit card.

Not sure about refunds, but I'm not thinking your DD is going to WANT to be leaving then. Key West is not nearly as fun as WDW is for kids. For that matter, I'm not sure your DH is going to want to leave! If he fishes (you can rent fishing gear too) or plays golf, maybe he could take his gear and get in some time for that. Also, the rental boats and water activites would be wonderful too. We did that in July at BC and it was lots of fun even though those were kind of slow. Another suggestion would be to go to the BW one evening. That is fun too! Too much to do at WDW...

If your hubby and DD's are ready for key west on Saturday.. tell them to have fun and pick you up at Disney on the way home on Wednesday :lmao:

I agree, that I dont think your kids are going to want to leave either. I could never leave Disney early..lol.. Im always begging for ONE MORE DAY. When that gets shot down by DH, I start planning my NEXT trip!! :rotfl:

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 Yeah I agree. I think your husband and girls will WANT TO STAY longer and your dh will probably enjoy the extra days with JUST HIS FAMILY. You will have TO POST AN UPDATE...we will all want to know what happened. MY VOTE....STAY TIL THE END at WDW.

normally if you check out early they charge you a min. of a one night stay some still charge the full price particularly if you booked a package.

Thanks all-- I have been charged before for a night when leaving early due to a blizzard coming in-- I was fine with that since we just wanted to be home! Then again, we were leaving in the afternoon, so it was to be expected. If I were to do this, I know I would be telling them the night before. I don't imagine my crew will want to leave at all, but of course, I have to have all the options in front of me just in case... I can't believe DH will want to go-- my Dad (possibly one of the most red-neck guys on the planet, tends to be critical of "all that fancy stuff") should be a CM at WDW! We went for the first time when I was 11 and from then on, he told everyone he knew what a wonderful place WDW is. So clean, amazed by the way they would replant at night and all that, the audio-animatronics...Every snowstorm from then on that we would plow was "for Disney". If he could like it, DH will. Gotta get those country boys out of the woods somtimes...

I'll be sure to let you know how it goes...I am so excited to be nearly there!

Oh how funny! I can't even imagine your DH and kids wanting to leave early! Last winter we stayed for 10 days and it still wasn't enough! I see you are staying at the Poly~no way anyone is going to want to be dragged away from there!!!! I'm just lovin' your dad's attitude!

have fun! And definately report back in!
