Checking luggage

Hi,
My family of four all have booked southwest together so we have the same confirmation number. Can my husband drop us off and we check in our luggage while he parks the car and then he check his luggage when he gets back? Does everyone on the same confirmation need to check in together?

Yes you can check in your luggage while husband parks. Since there are 4 of you, you can check 8 pieces of luggage fee free. If you have less than that, you can check hubby's luggage in too while he parks and save some time.

Don't they still ask for a photo ID when you check luggage at the counter/curbside? If so, hubby wouldn't be present to do so.

They do get 8 bags total - BUT - chances are good that a family of 4 does not need 8 pieces of checked luggage, and would probably check no more than 6, which would be no problem for 3 people to check in (in other words, without OPs DH being present.

If the OP's family checked in online and has pre-printed boarding passes, the hubby doesn't need to meet up with the rest of the party until just before security, then.

Thanks. Most likely what will happen is my husband will park one car and my son will have to park a second car that was needed for the grandparents. We usually have 5 check in bags. That leaves my daughter and I to check in 4 bags and when either my son or husband come they can check in the 5th. Does this sound right? I could check the 5th with my parents, but just want to make sure we are covered anyway.

This means waiting in luggage lines twice. Not a time saver overall. I'd just stick together, personally.

Yea I know we won't save time this way , but we get to the airport early. I'm just thinking with grandparents and my disabled daughter it would be easiest to be dropped off and to check our luggage and be free of it then my son and or husband can check in the remaining if necessary. I just needed to make sure it can be done. Thanks for everyones help.
