Hi,

I have searched and can not find any answers to my question. So, I hope you all can help.

We are not using DME, but was curious if we could check our luggage at OKW when we leave to come home?

Are non DME users allowed to check their luggage with Delta at the resort? We thought it would make things easier getting back to the airport.... So, we could go straight to security...

Does anyone actually have any links for official info on this?

Thank you so much :goodvibes

You could leave your luggage with Bell Services, but you'd have to come back to retrieve it and take it to the airport. DME will not transport luggage only.

Yes!

You can use Remote Airline Check-in at your resort to get your boarding passes and to check your luggage (as long as your airline participates in Remote Airline Check-in), regardless of how you're getting back to the the airport.

From http://disneymeetings.disney.go.com/dwm/services/detail?name=DMEAttendeesFAQDetailPage

Q: Do I need to ride the Disney's Magical Express motor coach to the airport in order to participate in the Resort Airline Check-in?

A: No. After utilizing the Resort Airline Check-in service, you can either take advantage of the complimentary motor coach transportation to the airport or arrange your own private transportation. Your checked luggage will be transported to the airport regardless of which transportation option you choose.

Thank you so much... This is going to be the best thing for us!!! Getting to check our bags at a less crowded resort vs. the crowded airport!!! WHOOHOO! :cool1:

The main points to remember if you want to do this are:

- The desks are open every day from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can check in no more than 12 hours and no less than 3 hours prior to your scheduled flight departure time. That means if you flight is leaving at 7:30 a.m., you cannot use the service.

- Your entire traveling party must be present with their photo I.D. (e.g., driver's license, passport, Military ID) and your Key to the World card to verify that you are a guest of a Disney hotel when you deliver your bags. You will get your boarding passes issued at that time as well.

- This service is not provided by Disney nor is it connected to DME. A third-party company approved by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) operates the Resort Airline Check-In on behalf of the participating airlines.

- This service is not offered for the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin, Shades of Green, or the DTD resorts.

- The service is only available if you are flying domestically (includes Puerto Rico) on the following airlines: American, Continental, Delta (including Song), JetBlue, and United (including TED). It is a complimentary (free) service.

They have changed their hours from 5 am to 1 pm. Everything else, 3 hours prior, no more than 12 hours prior to flight, etc, has remained the same :)

While you're correct that Disney will not allow DME to be a luggage-only service, the Resort Airline Check-in is NOT a DME service. Confusing, but true. Resort Airline Check-in is a separate entity. ANYONE staying at a WDW owned and operated resort AND flying a "participating" airline can check their luggage in at that desk and then not see it again until they claim it at their home airport's baggage claim carousel.

Disney runs DME to keep people from renting cars or using limos -- both not only cost money that could otherwise be spent on WDW property, but both allow access to non-WDW businesses, which also bleeds money that could otherwise be spent on Disney property. As for the way BACK to MCO, Disney couldn't care less how you get there, because you're leaving their property and aren't going to be spending any more money there whether you leave by DME bus, town car, rental car, or outrigger canoe.
