We are arriving by rental car, when I get there how does this work? Do I park first and walk in? Do I unload my bags and a CM takes them to my room? I'm making a grocery stop, what about my case of water and bags of goodies? And IF a CM does help me with the whole sha-bang how much should I give him??? Also is there valet parking at CBR? This may make it easier since I am returning my car to the Dolphin later on arrival day.. Thanks All!!!

We arrived at CBR via car rental. We parked, left our stuff in the car and was greeted by the most lovely man dressed in a beautiful white suit. He looked like Paul Sorvino as a Spain General. AAAAHHHHHH! He was soooooooooo nice! My whole family got out of the car (this is about 1:30pm) and our Spainish General greeted us and asked if we were checking in. He directed us to the registration building. We thanked him and walked into the building. A nice young man greeted us inside and handed my two kids a ton of stickers, crayons, colouring books. He started talking to dd (7 yo at the time) and joked that she was paying for the resort. We checked in, got the exact room we requested by fax 4 days earlier. The room wasn't ready until 3pm (we figured as much) so we lingered in the registration area for a few minutes picking up information and washing up. We were greeted outside again by our Spainish General (AAAHHHHH). We drove to MK to see the 3pm parade, arrived back at CBR around 4:30pm, got our room and had a lovely dinner at OPR! I miss CBR! Thanks for letting me remember the magic! S

You will need to park at the Customs house and go inside and check in. When you find out where your room is you can drive to that building and unload your car. There is no Valet parking at CBR. I am sure you could unload at the Customs house and they would bring the stuff to your room. Standard tip is $1 a bag or suitcase. I usually tip more when dealing with suitcases.

When you come through the entrance gate just tell them you're checking in. Then park at the Customs House. When you get your room make sure you get a parking permit for your car. Then you can just park where ever you want while you unload your car. :)

This is actually another question. My DH and I stayed here and arrived in a towncar. Our stuff was unloaded and we checked in-after check in we had to take the cart and walk to Jamaica from the custom house! Call me crazy but I have to think there is an easier way. We are going back in May with 2 kids and I'm just wondering if what happened to us is the standard or is there an easier option.

I saw this thread and I too wondered how it works when you arrive in a towncar.

Me too! You guys asked the same question I was going to. We arrive by towncar in 19 days!:Pinkbounc :bounce:

yeah cbr does have bell services. They were very nice to my gf and I when we visited in july 2002. The only drawback was the wait for check in almost 2 hours.:bounce:

So...if you are staying in Jamaica, you have to haul all your luggage from the check-in area - or can you drive over to a parking lot close to jamaica? Going in May and someones post alarmed me about Jamaica.
:D

That would probably have been my post-My husband and I did not have a car to drive over or we would have. We were given a cart to put our luggage on and then after check in we had to push it across the street to Port Royale and then over to Jamaica. I stress that it wasn't awful but I just have the feeling their is an easier way. We are going in May also, with children and do not want to have to do this again. The other posts have assured me that this more than likely will not happen again. If you are driving then you have no worries. Have a great trip!

That is very different than my two experiences checking in at CBR, Trish. I can't believe they let you/made you walk the luggage cart all the way over to Jamaica yourselves!! (Not doubting you, just expressing my surprise!)

Both times that I have checked into CBR we arrived via stretch limo and I didn't touch my bags until they were in our room. When we got out of the limo, our limo driver unloaded out luggage from the trunk and at that point someone right there at CBR Custom House took it and placed it all on a luggage rack and brought it to Bell Services, which is right next to the check-in area, inside Custom House. Once we checked in, we walked over the Bell Services and a CM drove us AND our luggage to our room. The bellman brought our luggage to our room, too.

I'm sorry that happened to you the last time, Trish! Next time, ESPECIALLY since you'll have 2 kids with you, if you don't see a bellman there to take your luggage right away, then definitely ask at check-in for someone to take it for you. I personally find it unacceptable that they had you drag your own luggage across the resort yourselves.

We were checking into the CBR from the BWV's. Our luggage was taken over in the AM while we were at MK, when we checked in, they got our bags, put us and the bags in the van and drove us over to Trinidad North. CM told us exactly where to go to get to our room on the top floor and he brought up all the bags into our room. Same thing was done for my friend the day before. I'm sorry you guys had sucy a bad experience.
