So I'm checking into BLT in a few days and will actually be there with just my 2 kids (10 and 6 y/o) for the first day. My wife has to work on our travel day and will join us late in the evening on a later flight.

So, without going to a park and not swimming since it'll be in the 60's..... what would you do for a free day in the World with the kiddos?

1) Community Hall - games, check out movies

2) DTD

3) DTD west-side

I doubt that age kids would enjoy checking out other resorts - that's kind of an adult enjoyment.

You will be tired from traveling, Community Hall sounds like a winner, a monorail ride on the resort loop or Epcot, or a boat ride to Fort Wilderness.

I agree community center, boat rides to Ft Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge, monorail and if they are anything like when my kids were younger even at 60 swimming/hot tub was a must. Pools are heated.

Community Hall, monorail ride and explore the Grand Floridian and Polynesian Resorts, miniature golf at Blizzard Beach or Fantasia Fairways, DTD, catch the boat to Wilderness Lodge and explore there, walk to MK buses and catch a bus to Boardwalk and have a meal at ESPN Club, Wide World of Sports..

This may sound lame---but my kids really enjoyed sending postcards to our friends and family back home while we were at Disney. The gift shop next to the arcade at CR sell postcards. The kids at that point will not have anything to share yet, but could just write they were at disney, wish you were here,etc...

There is a mailbox right across from community hall at BLT or they could brink them with them when you visit the MK and put them in the mailbox there on main street.

I can't remember if I bought stamps there or brought them from home.....

Go to the Boardwalk and rent a surrey bike....

all great ideas, thank you! keep them coming!!!

I love the postcard idea. I don't think in this day in age of email, ipods, etc my kids have ever sent a postcard to anyone. That one is a must!!

Take the monorail and loop through EPCOT-that way you get in a park, but not really.

Fishing was great, kinda expensive and not sure if its a good time of year for biting though.

Bocce, shuffleboard, and ping pong would allow them to burn off some energy after traveling.

Great picture and a great idea.... maybe if my kids are up for it we could try it at port orleans riverside instead since its cheaper.....

Go to AKL to look at the animals from Arusha Rock. Often there are CMs out there to talk about the animals.

Go to the Boardwalk and rent one of the surreys to bike around the lake. That's a lot of fun. They also have entertainment at the Boardwalk.

There are two miniature golf courses.

Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach.

Rent a pontoon boat and cruise around the lake, horseback riding at FW, crafts/activities at Community Hall.

Walk over to MK and take a bus to the All Star Resorts. My kids love walking around and taking pictures there. They are now 15 and 17 and we have been doing this for the past several years!!

dvd from community hall and pop corn in the room. A little down/free time after a travel day isn't so bad.

I like the boat ride around Bay Lake as well, either rented or on one of the "shuttles".
