Checking inn Father's Day at AKL

We will be checking inn at Akl this Sunday! We are due to arrive at the resort at 11:00 a.m. Since we will be there for 5 nights and only have 4 day hoppers we will not be going to any parks that day . I thought we would spend most of the day checking out the AKL, but since it is Father's day I would like to do something a little special for my husband. Any thoughts as to how we should spend our day

Have you looked at Downtown Disney? There are some nice resturants there. We have only eaten at Rainforest Cafe there which gets mixed reviews, but there are several to check out. We like going there our first day to shop too.

Gosh, H&Hmommy, your husband is expecting something special for Father’s Day, on top of checking into the AKL? Is he crazy? (hee hee!)

Oh, I am so jealous of you – you’re going to be staying at my favorite resort. I must warn you that whenever I stay at the AKL, I never, ever want to leave it. My Annual Passes go to h-e-double-toothpicks (that is, they go unused) whenever I’m there. I just love lounging around the public animal-viewing areas or the swimming hole. The AKL is such a relaxing resort, in my humble opinion. I would suggest that you do the same thing – explore the resort, then when you’re through, either pull up a rocking chair at the outdoor fire pit or pull up a lounge chair at the swimming hole (aka, swimming pool). Then just sit there and thank your lucky stars that you’re vacationing at the Happiest Place on Earth. *Sigh*

By the way, when you’re hungry, definitely dine at Jiko’s or Boma’s. Yum! Heck, I even enjoy Mara, the quick-service restaurant. Since you are thinking of doing something special for Father's Day, consider ordering Room Service and dining on your balcony.

Book a massage for him at teh AKL (I wouldn't wait too long if you decide to go that way...they book up and especially on weekends need advance reservations.)

Thanks for all of the ideas. We have never been to Downtown Disney, so maybe we will hang out at the resort then head out for dinner.
He is such a special daddy. I'm sure he will be happy no matter what we do as long as we are together as a family!!

I would still stay at the AKL and swim and relax and have a great Father's Day Dinner at Boma.

Maybe go to the Winterland/Summerland mini putt... it is only 5 minutes away...
