We are staying at POP, and because of our flight times and DME's three-hour-ahead pick-up schedule, we'll be handling our own bags. I know there is no free wireless/internet access at POP... but is there any place I can print out boarding passes and pay the baggage fee online in advance? How would I do this?

Whether you are in the parks or at your hotel, any guest services/concierge can print out your boarding passes. They have done it for us several times and there are always a bunch of other people doing the exact same thing. They are so good, but then again that's just one more reason to love Disney!

I'm not sure they will do the bag fees for you. I think there's a phone # you can call.

There is free internet at all the resorts...it's called dialup. Just load Junofree or Netzero before you leave home, and you can connect up through your in room phone. We've done it for the last 5 or 6 trips. Works good enough to check email, checkin online, and even peruse the DIS.

Good to know, but I have a Mac. Free access isn't supported by either of these for Macs, and although I can get access for $10 a month, that's more than it'll save me to pay the baggage charges online.

I have used Budgetdialup.com in the past. Its a pay as you go service so you do not have to subscribe on a monthly basis. Just pay for a day, week, month or whatever you want.

Nowadays I use my Palm Pre's internet to check in for flights.

During our last stay, when the dreaded ME info arrived the day before our departure from Disney, it included the phone number to call to pay the baggage fee. Guest services can help you check in and print boarding passes.

You will get a notice, in your room, the day before you are to depart, using DME. There will be a number on it to call in order to pay any baggage fees.
I am assuming that you are on a flight leaving earlier than 8:30am and this is why you can't send your bags through rather than lug them yourself.
You can also checkin at the front desk, concierge area. They should be able to print out your boarding passes for you.

As others have said, you will get a phone number in your room to call to prepay for your luggage. Just have your flight info, credit card, and a piece of paper and pencil/pen handy. You will be given a confirmation number that they will need to print your boarding passes (at least we needed it last year)

Actually, our flight is at 10:55 so we need to get ME at around 8am. I thought we needed to check our bags in at least three hours before pick up time, which would mean doing it the night before, and we don't want to be without "everything" and all packed up that far in advance. Please, maybe I misunderstood, and correct me if I am wrong about checking in the bag!

RAC counter opens up at 5am so you would have plenty of time to get checked in that morning. I would go down to desk around 7am and get everything checked in. You just need to be completely checked in by 8am. This means if you go down and there is a huge line and you are in line at 8am then your not going to catch your bus. I have found POP to be very good at moving people. I usually get everything packed up and go down checking our bags in and then we go eat at the food court. You want to be at the ME area 15 minutes before departure so count for that.

Nope....3 hrs before 'flight' departure. So, if your flight is leaving at 10:55, you need to have your bags all checked, and boarding passes in hand, no later than 7:55.
If it were me, I would grab all the bags, and go to the RAC counter by 6:30-7. The line shouldn't be long at all at that time, you'll get rid of your bags and be ready to go.Then head over to the food court for a quick bite of breakfast and be out at the DME bus stop about 15 mins before your pickup time. Then you can just head right to security at MCO!!!
