Saw a few threads on check-in and got to thinking myself about BCV. We bought sight unseen, although we have eaten at Cape May once. So I have really no idea about check in.

I know it's done at the same check-in desk at BC, but we will most likely have a rental car. I don't valet and since we most likely will try to find a parking space close to our room location, is there a place to leave the car just for checking in?

Thanks.

When you pull into the Beach club entrance, the self parking is on the left hand side. For check in, just park in the circle, check in, then you can self park. Depending on where your room is, it can be a long walk so if you have alot of luggage you might want to leave it with the bellman. :)

You can pull up to the front BC entrance and check in, have the front door people take your luggage up to your room and then move your car to the parking lot next to the BCVs without having to use valet services, and then meet the bell persons at your room. There is a bridge separating the lot from the front entrance, but it's not too long. Access to the parking lot is pretty convenient from BCVs, I think you'll be pleased with the parking situation.

Thanks for the quick responses. I wasn't too worried about parking itself, just wondering if it was okay to park while I checked in and then park my car wherever is closest to the room.

Thanks again.

When we stayed there in October I pulled up there and left DW in the car while I ran in. No one was in line and I was back out in like 5 min and my wife was walking towards me puliing the bags:mad: . She was told you can't leave your car there so she moved it to the parking lot.

When we were there in October, it was no problem. We just pulled up and told the valet we were checking in. He directed us to the left side of the area and told us to leave our keys at the valet desk in case they needed to move the car out of the way for someone. No big deal, no problem. I suppose if it was very busy they may direct you further down the drive or off to another area, but we do this at every hotel we've ever stayed at and it's never been an issue. Often they ask to keep the keys, just in case, but it's never been a problem.

Is the valet service complimentary at BCV like it is at BW? I hadn't thought of that until now, but DH and I have always valeted the car.

Yes, there is complimentary valet (tips are appreciated, of course) at BCV. But, a lot of people just park themselves since it is really close!

I had this discussion with a valet guy at BCV. I pulled up to check in, and left our two carry-on size bags in the car. It was a Mother-daughter trip, and we packed light but did laundry several times! When I came back from checking in, I was asked didn't I want to valet, since it was free. He also mentioned that we could call and have our car waiting. I had already figured that the parking next to the Villas was much closer to our room than valet check-in. I guess if your room is at the end of the wing next to the driveway, valet would be slightly better. Diana

Am I correct in assuming that the valet parking is only free at DVC resorts and only when checked in using points? It's not free if we are staying at another hotel, like AKL is it? And it wouldn't be free if we aren't using points at that time?

Don't assume you can leave your car in the circle during the check-in process. You may be able to during slow times, or you may not. I was asked if I wanted valet parking, and when I said no, I was told I'd have to move it.

Even if valet parking were free (you're expected to tip) and even if self-parking were not closer to BCV, I still wouldn't like valet parking. Why should I have to ask for MY (rental) car when I can just walk up to it and drive away? Even if THEY tipped ME a couple bucks, it still wouldn't interest me.

Okay, so sounds like safe bet is to just ask when we pull up and if need be have DH circle the parking lot, or whatever, till I get us checked in.

Didn't mean to start a ruckus with my question, just didn't know what I was supposed to do.

What works best is to drive up to the valet circle and park along the curb, out of the way. Tell the valet that you are checking-in and will be right back in 5 minutes. Ask them to hold your keys at the valet desk. In my experiences, they happily will do so.

We actually had to check-in twice at the Beach Club, and used this procedure both times last week.
