Checking availability before the 7 month window

I phoned MS to check availability for a studio at BCV for the end of October just to see if I had any hope of booking one when the time came and was told she was not able to tell me because I was not a BCV member so could only tell later on in the month when I could officially book.

I am sure that last year I did the same thing for a VWL villa and was told there was a certain number left.

Has any one ever done this or am I just not remembering properly?

We have been told that the new MS computer system doesn't give MS the ability to check future inventory.

Checking ahead is really a waist of time in my opinion. There could be 5 studios available as of today and tomorrow they could be taken. Heck, I've had inventory taken while I was trying to book a reservation!

That may be true, as the one time I was able to check was about 5 years ago. And I agree that it can be a waste of time. At 7 months, there's such a "musical resorts" going on as people get what they really want and change. The one time I was told at about 9 months that what I wanted (BWV standard studio) was all booked. But when I called at 7 months (a couple hours into the day), it was available.

Yep. There one second, gone the next. And it is frustrating. I called to add a night to our last stay from our room, and missed it by seconds. Wound up at POP, which is nice, we like POP, we just didn't want to have to move.

yes this is unfortunately the way it is, the system knows which resort is your home when you provide your member number and you cant check in advance even for just an availability.

however this thread is very helpful on DVS resort future avails....

David that link was really helpful. Just makes me feel that I have a chance. See that the THV are popular by the way.

Just remember that the link only shows what has been reported by people here on the DIS that have chosen to participate. The reports may show an overall trend, but I wouldn't base my actual future vacation plans on the data.
