Having some mixed feelings about it. It is super clean and spacious but I was really sad that our room was not ready until exactly 4:00, I did not get the 7th floor like I requested, I am still waiting for the crib that I requested,I was told that they are no longer offering the pirates booty for the Kids (my kids were really looking forward to it) there is no rod or hangers to hang clothes in the parents room (only in the kids room) on the other hand, the kids love pirates cove and the walk is not bad at all. I'm sure it will all work out even with the minor let downs. Will post pics when I get back

We have booked the kids suite for the day after Thanksgiving. And that is disapointing that things are not as they should be. I will have to check into that Pirates Booty issue. My girls noticed that it would be in the room when we watched the video on the website but I will not mention it again until I find out some more info. on that. Maybe they will forget about it? We could only hope! :rotfl:Is there a closet in the master bedroom and just no bar in it like it got forgotten or isn't finished yet? Maybe if that's the case you can mention it and they can check into doing something about that for you. I requested the 7th floor when I booked but was told they would note it on my reservation but could not promise anything. There is only two kids suites on floors 2 to 7 and 1 on the first floor. What floor did you get? Can't wait to hear more when you return and make sure to take lots of pictures and post them:)
Have a fun time and don't let the little things get you down:thumbsup2

We check in next week. I have VERY high hopes! I would love to see some pics if possible.

The closet thing is weird, how is there not hangers or a rod in the closet?

I know I don't get the closet thing either?:confused3 When you get back can you fill us in on your experience too? And share some pics. as well?
Have a great time:thumbsup2

I would love to hear a full report at the end of your trip! And pictures pictures pictures.

I do have to say, dont get too let down about your first impressions, check in officially is 4:00, rooms/floors are not guarenteed, and if they are that busy that you did not get to check in early Im sure they are also quite busy to get your crib to you, but you will get it.

The closet thing seems kind of weird.

And I would most definatly be let down about the pirates booty.

I agree the water play area is awesome and the walk is not bad.

I hope today,by your second day, you have had enough possitive experiences to be enjoying the Hojo and the new rooms.

And if nothing else, just remember you are at Disney, how bad could it be:goodvibes:thumbsup2

My question would be "when did they first start with occupency of these new rooms."? If it is recent there will always be bugs. Requesting does not always mean getting. We have never stayed at Hojo's so I would be interested in what resolution comes about.

I LOVE DL!!!!! Didn't get my crib till my fourth call. The font desk person never got back to me about the closet....but we're not letting it bother us at all! I'm on my phone waiting in line to select my seats for Fantasmic PS!!!!MY kids cannot get enough of Pirates cove and yes....its true the beds are heavenly!!!we had a hard time getting up!Ridemax is awesome....we're riding everything we want with minimal to no wait. I highly suggest it!

I'm interested in pics too :)

That really stinks about the pirate booty :( do they have wireless internet in the room like it says on that video too??

I just got back from a 2 night stay at HOJO (ent. rate) 7/16-7/18. This was our 4th stay since last Dec. when I orig. discovered the ent. rate which I absolutely love and can't be beat. However, with that I am guess I am willing to accept HOJO's little idiosyncrasies that have happened each and every stay. (1) We have never been able to check in before 4:00 p.m...in fact twice or rooms were not ready till after 4:30 (2) I always have the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door if I don't want housekeeping. They always, always call which I consider a Disturbance because all they ask is" do you want housekeeping today?" and if you say No, they ask if you need towels or anything which is very nice but they could leave a voice mail stating that if I need anything to call housekeeping. (3) If you do leave your room and want housekeeping to come in don't expect to be able to go in to the parks early for the morning and come back in the early afternoon to a made room for a nap or to relax because everytime I have done this my room has not been made till between 3:00 and 4:00 p.m.

Ok, now don't get me wrong, I do love staying at HOJO but these are just honest issues that we have dealt with each and every stay. I am willing to deal with them because the rate just can't be beat and the rooms are very clean and nice compared to other hotels in the area.

Yeah, so glad you are having a good time and not letting the "little" things ruin a great vacation!

We drove all night (15 hrs) and did magic morning. It was all going fantastically until husband poo poo'd my idea of getting fast passesfor splash mountain. "There's no line" he said in disgust of my fancy fast pass ways. Well he was in the front log and got completely soaked. We were too but he was funny lol. So we went begging at HOJO and they got us checked in by noon. They also let us change and towel off in the bathrooms. We went and ate at the Hometown buffet after we dried off and the room was ready when we got back so it coud have been ready before that, I'm not sure. :worship:

Most hotels operate the same way, but check-in is not until that... check-in. You can do pre-check-in and a room is available for your room category and length of stay (does not create gaps between occupancies), then you might be able to move into your room early. Early check-ins are never guaranteed.

... especially since this week there was a lot of conventions in the area. Some are checking out today, but again... early check-ins are not guaranteed.

(1) We have never been able to check in before 4:00 p.m...in fact twice or rooms were not ready till after 4:30

We have always been lucky I guess, because in our last 5 stays there has only been one time our room was NOT ready early. :) Now that I say that, I am sure it will never happen again for us!

I would like to know the rates for the kids suite i can't find them online...we would like to stay there next year...suprise trip for the kids!!! Thanks

You know, now that I think about it, we've never been able to check in early at the HOJO either. However, they have always been very nice.....they store our luggage and personal items in their secure storage room, and we could easily change in our swim suits and hang out by the pool until our room was available, and other times, we just headed to the parks.

But yeah, it is a bit.....odd perhaps.....that a room in our room category is never available before check-in time.

I guess they just typically follow a strict check-in time. Luckily it doesn't really affect us since we're just flying in from Washington state, so we don't arrive exhausted or anything. We just put our stuff in their storage room, and go about our day.

We've always had lovely stays at the HOJO and service has always been top notch.

Perhaps the ability to check-in early is dependent upon whether it's high-season or low season. :confused3 We've been going to the HoJo on a regular basis since 2004 and have stayed there at least 8-10 times, perhaps more (I've lost track, LOL), both during high-season and low-season at Disneyland. We've had access to our room prior to check-in about 50% of the time. Most of the time when we've not had access prior to check-in, it seems that there are a lot of guests staying there.

Our experience with Hojo Housekeeping has been nothing but wonderful. Our room is always made up each time we've come back with the exception of one time when we came back early in the afternoon. I even remember making a comment to my DH when we came back with the kids another early afternoon at how surprised I was that the room was already made up. I didn't, nor did I expect the room to be made up at that time. Everytime we call for extra towels, Housekeeping arrives at our door within 5-10 minutes of our phone call. Side note: One time our family stayed in Las Vegas at TheHOTEL/Mandalay Bay for three nights and, not once did housekeeping ever come by to clean our room, even after multiple calls to the front desk. Ugh. Never will stay at TheHOTEL again. :sad2:

Those ladies in HoJo Housekeeping work really hard, are conscientious (hence the phone calls to the room), and do a fantastic job! :thumbsup2

Back to original topic: The Hojo Kid Suites sound great! Hope the OP and family have a great time on their vacation at the DLR!

HoJo Anaheim is one of the best hotels I've stayed at, regardless of price. The rates are good, the rooms clean, the staff courteous and efficient (we see the same staffers every year, which tells me that their employees like working there and want to perform well), and the facilities are top notch (what other hotel sundry stores have little storage drawers full of sugar, Sweet 'n Low, Splenda, Mini-moos etc.?). We rarely stay at the Disney hotels. HoJo is flat out better than Paradise Pier (yuck), and is a 3x to 5x better value than Disneyland Hotel and Grand California. We won't stay anywhere else, HoJo is so consistant that we know we'll have a great experience there. Sure they slip up once in a while, but compared to the competition they're the best at DLR.

You have been very lucky!:thumbsup2 Hopefully your luck will continue.

We now plan for it - just now either go early and check in and go into the parks or go late, check in have dinner and call it a night.

I love HoJo's especially if I can get the entertainment rate. Am definitely interested in the kids suites!

We have never had a problem with housekeeping at HoJo's. Our room has always been cleaned by the time we came back. Now the DL hotel, that is another story. Hardly ever cleaned by 3 or 4 in the afternoon and we've often not been allowed to check-in until 30-45 minutes after check-in time. Once we bought AP's, we started staying at DL hotel on the AP rates. But, I was so frustrated with paying the extra money there and getting poor service that we went back to HoJo's where we get great service for $69/night!!!! My kids LOVE pirate's cove too and the walk is about the same as to the DL hotel )and since we usually have our jogging stroller with us, it's not worth it to use the monorail).

Hey Everybody!

Just wanted to give a little update on things! :]

We are definitely still working out all the bugs on the Kids Suites. The 'hanger' thing seemed strange to me also, so I doublechecked with our General Manager and he was profusely apologetic and explained that it was just one of those bugs that we were working out! He ordered more hangers for the rooms and we will be amending that problem shortly. THANK YOU for letting us know!

Also, with regard to the crib- it might take them a little while to get it to you if the Front Desk is busy- but you shouldn't be waiting hours for it! I hope that you did receive it in a timely fashion! If you didn't, please let me know!

Check-in time is not until 4p- and I know that can be difficult if you arrive to the hotel sooner than that, but our Housekeeping Staff needs that time to make sure that all of the newly vacated rooms [at 12p] are clean and ready to go for those of you who are arriving, as well as service the guest rooms that are currently occupied. When we are less full, rooms are more readily available before check-in time, but when we are more full, 4p is the standard. We want everything to be absolutely perfect in the rooms when you check-in, and so in order to be thorough, our Housekeeping staff can't- and doesn't- do rushed jobs. But! I do want to be clear that we have no problems at all with checking you in early if there are rooms available! We never just 'sit' on clean rooms.

Also, our Housekeeping Department does like to 'check-in' with our guests at least once a day. Usually, when there is a 'Do Not Disturb' sign on the door, Housekeeping will try to check-in via telephone later in the day, just to make sure that everything- and everyone is alright. We would hate to have a situation where someone needed medical attention, but was unable to get to the phone, and not know until it was too late. So...I know that this might seem troublesome to some of you, but please know that it is coming from a good place; we just want to make sure you are safe! :goodvibes

Now! With regard to the Pirate chest in the rooms, I have this email from our General Manager::

In our internet video which showed our concept Kids Suite we mentioned a “treasure chest” that would be placed in the kids room that would contain pirate-themed goodies...We are now working on getting a suitable and durable chest that will contain fake bead necklaces, maybe some plastic coins, hot chocolate and discount tickets to Pirates Dinner Adventure....[we] apologize that it is not finalized yet, and...are working with our partners to provide the contents. [In the meantime,] the concept videos have been pulled from our website and YouTube.

I will continue to follow up with him on these issues, and will let you all know when we have an update. :thumbsup2

Thanks for all your feedback and patience! You guys are awesome! :cheer2:
