Checked into AKV yesterday

WOW! This is our first trip to the AK, first family trip to WDW and we are being spoiled! After reading about DVC on the boards, I rented points and booked a 1br value at Jambo house. For a value this room is massive! I feel like we are in a small apartment. I love that the balcony opens from the living area and the br too, nice that we don't have to share with a neighbor. We have a view of the pool and it is fantastic. We knew it would be a tossup for the view since we are in a value, so getting pool over parking lot was a nice perk I don't know if we'll ever be able to vacation in a normal hotel room again after this!

Another fantastic thing about going DVC is the valet parking! We drove so having our car ready when we want it is great. Getting back and forth from the AK this morning was so easy. We have ADRs at Cape May Cafe and Chef Mickey's later this week so I'm pretty happy we'll be able to use the VP there as well.

My little ones are taking a nap right now, we plan to go check out the pool when they get up! My 4yo is so excited to go down the waterslide....we have the best view of it from our balcony!

Thanks for the comments on AKV...we will be there right after Thanksgiving...and we are all excited. It should look specticular...

Sounds like you are having a great "DVC member" time on your rented points. Now you know why DVC members rave about Disney Vacation Club so much on Disboards.

AKV is unlike anything else on WDW property! Enjoy your trip.....sounds like DVC might be a good fit for your family.

Thanks for the report! Keep us posted. DW and I stayed in a 1 br value for 11 nights in 2007. It was tremendous. I agree that there is no other resort like AKV. We are so happy to call it home!

Thanks for the "first timers" viewpoint of AKL. We are owners there and have yet to stay. However, we will be there on 10/17. I cannot wait. These next few weeks are going to be very hard. I am soooo not good with that patience thing!

Glad you like it! We had been looking into DVC since 206 but made the jump after staying in a value resort...we knew it was best for our family/needs.

Please share pics of your room and view! We just bought into AKV in May and will be staying in a value 1 bdrm at the end of October -- I'd love a sneak peak! We cannot wait!!

Glad to read another positive reaction to AKV, we will be at Kidani Village in a few weeks - really looking forward to it!
