Does anyone have any experience with something like this? We were a 12 GTY. 2 days ago we checked and they had upgraded us to a Cat 11 and assigned us a stateroom number. I just looked at our reservation this afternoon and the room number is gone and we're back to GTY. Called DCL, put me on hold, talked to a supervisor who said they must be balancing out the ship and reassigning rooms. He said not to worry, everything's fine with the reservation and I would probably know Monday what the room is.

Very strange - maybe we'll even get a better upgrade, even though I was happy just being on the ship with a Cat. 12, then 11. Has this happened to anyone else? We're on the Sept 20th Wonder.

With the gty, you give them the right to move you right up to the time you check in. I'm only aware of one instance where someone was upgraded and later downgraded again, but several who went back to gty and then were reassigned to the same or a better cabin. Hope you get some pixie dust.

I have heard of this happening before too.

We booked cat 12 for spring break and got assigned an 11. I never saw our room go back in to GYT status again, but we did get upgraded again to a cat 9! And it was an excellent location! So I hope that is what you will experience too is a better upgrade. Good luck

We sail in 3 weeks. I have since moved us to a FL resident rate cat 11 for the exact same $$'s. At least I know now that they can't move us down again.

No offense, but if you aren't comfortable in a Cat 12 or don't want to stay in a Cat 12, you shouldn't book a guarantee 12. Unless you book 4 people into a cat 12, an upgrade is never a sure thing. Just saying!

Thats the negative of booking a GTY, you are really not guaranteed an upgrade, you are guaranteed the cat you booked which is a 12.
Sorry that you were moved back down, who knows, maybe by the time you sail you will be moved again. Don't think that was mean spirited at all...

Sorry to belabor the point, but how could it not be mean spirited? The poster doesn't care if they were assigned a 12 originally and that's what they had. They are upset --- and I would be rip roaring mad it if were me... -- that they were ASSSIGNED a cat 9 only to see it slip away. In kindergarten parlance that's a big "neener neener boo boo." You don't giveth then taketh away, IMO.

If you pay for a 12 and you get a 12 well then so be it -- and OP seems cool with that. Luck of the draw. Blah blah. But if you pay for a 12 and get assigned a 9 and then that is withdrawn by the DCL powers that be then that STINKS. And that is, by my definition, mean spirited.
