I bought our tickets last October for this coming August (Boston-Logan Airport to Orlando and back) and have been checking the flights periodically online, and tonight I found out that they changed the flight number for our flight down to Orlando, AND they changed the time of our return flight. When I went to check the seating availibility, I saw that 2 of our seats were now "available"!! I immediately called Song and the woman told me that they "hadn't changed our seats over to the new flight yet". Fortunately there were 4 seats together in the row right in front of the row I had chosen. I purposely bought our airfare that far in advance so I could choose our seats. I also had her check our seats on the return flight, and fortunately those were OK, but now we're flying home an hour earlier than originally scheduled.

So, if you have flights on Delta/Song, I'd check them now to see if there have been any changes.

Yep, mine changed too. I routinely check on what the fares are. When I checked them yesterday morning, the times of my flights had changed. But, not according to my itinerery with Delta/Song! So, today I checked my on-line itinerery and lo and behold, an unconfirmed change had happened. My seats were now unassigned!! Got on the phone to double check and never talked to a live person. That's a first for me with Song. But, my seats were the same as before and now my itin. reads correct seats. My morning flights only changed by 10 minutes (earlier) but my departures from MCO changed a lot....from 8:10 pm to 7 pm and the other one from 4:35 to 3:15. Hopefully that will be the end of the changes but who knows. We'll all have to keep checking in on a daily basis.

SeaSpray, thanks for posting this. We are also flying Song from Boston to MCO in August. I wouldn't have even thought to check it but after what you wrote, I did. Our returning flight was moved up an hour!! I assumed we would have been notified by Song (or Delta) since an hour is a significant change also, we have booked flights through expedia and they notified us right away of a flight change and it was only 5 minutes!I hope other people check their flights too!!

Could you get a SkyMiles number from Delta?? All three of us in my family have a number and it makes checking really easy. Then you can just log into your account at Delta and the new flight info is right there. We'll never have enough miles to get anywhere free but it's helpful for tracking my flights and any changes. I also thought the airlines would call you. But, found out that isn't true the hard way several years ago!!

Thanks for the suggestion. How do you get a skymiles number? Is it free? (it wouldn't be worth it to pay, we only fly once a year). Also, I sent an email to Song complaining about the lack of notification. I am interested to see their response.

Can someone explain how I can check my flight times and fares? Sorry for the ignorance but I booked through an agent

I go to www.delta.com and type in the dates and times that I'm flying, as if I wanted to buy airfare, and then it lists all the flights and times for those dates. When I see my exact flight in the list, there is an icon of a seat that you can click on which shows you which exact seats are taken and which are still available for that flight. That's how I saw that two of OUR seats were now available and two were taken, so I knew something was wrong.

You're welcome, I'm glad I was able to help someone else to check their flights in advance :)

I do have a SkyMiles number, so I'll be checking my itinerary through that from now on, thanks for the tip :)

I also urge everyone who books on Delta Song to keep checking their reservations. We booked months ahead for our trip last December. My husband who is a bit of fanactic kept checking our flight and lo and behold in August our whole flight was canceled. We called and were told we had been put on a different flight - same day different times. The problem with the flight they put us on was A. It arrived in Orlando after 9 pm and we had purchased tickets for the MVMCP and would not have been able to attend and B. I don't fly too well and always book far enough in advance to get certin seats and the new seats that were assigned were not what I had booked. As far as arriving too late for our plans -Delta told us that it was within their rights to cancel the flight and all they had to confirm was the same day not time of arrival. The seats were also my problem. We had to rebook fot the day before our original flight, pay for an extra night in FL and were able to get close to what we wanted for seats. As far as notifing us..Delta said they would have contacted us in October. We were not compinsated in any way. Woodman's wife

Buying your ticket early does NOT gurantee you the seat you selected. All buying a ticket does is gurantee you A seat on the plane. So watch your seat assignements.

For example, I am flying on FF miles to Europe next month. I just discovered that the seat I had is the seat MOST likely to be taken by a sky marshall. I moved just in case, but if I had not known and they had moved me for the sky marshall all I would be entitled to is a seat!

Delta must have had a major revamp. My Easter flightson Song are ok.
My June westcoast cruise flights have changed flight numbers and departure times (within 1/2 hr of originals)
My direct Song flights out of EWR to MCO for September have been cancelled, and we have been put on connecting flights thru Atlanta in both directions. I had them change the departure flights from connecting (2:00PM) to direct (7:40AM) but I have left the return flights as connecting leaving at 10:20AM getting into EWR at 2:50PM (the direct flight was (10:45AM-1:45PM)..
I expect that there should be more changes before September.
I wonder why they cancelled 2 flights per day on Song for only the months of September and October 2004?

Thanks for the heads up. I usually check my flights online on a regular basis and the last time I checked everything was the same as when I booked the flights. But, sure enough the times on both of our Jan 2005 flights had changed. We are now leaving Boston at 8:30am instead of 8:45am and flying home from Orlando at 3:15pm instead of 4:25pm. We also were bounced from our exit row seats.

What I do not understand is if the flight numbers are staying the same and the type of plane is staying the same why cannot they just move you with the seats you had picked out on your original flight plans? Does anyone know the answer to that? I can understand if the type of plane was changing or even if the flight number was changing but nothing but the times changed.

Tiffany, that was what I was concerned about. I'm one of those nervous nelly flyers who likes to be as far front as possible. Last year Song cancelled our flights and combined with others. So, obviously our seats changed. When I saw the 'unassigned seats' under my itin. I panicked. But, when I called they were actually the same seats. When I went back to my SKyMiles account, the seats were now 'assigned'. They must have been waiting for me to acknowledge the change in some way. But I never spoke to a 'real' person! However, my flight numbers are the same, at least at this point. I'm hoping that after a year of shaking things out, Song has gotten it's act together and will not be cancelling so many flights. It looks like their flights are more in line with the times of JetBlue and Southwest flights. Wonder why. Ah well. We'll all have to go back to daily checkings now. I thougth that was done with.

Thanks for the heads up Seaspray. We had Song out of Logan in Sept. It changed by over an hour on our return flight. We were leaving at 3:30 which had us leaving WDW at around noon. Way too early. They had a new flight come on in March, a 7PM flight that works out well for us. Thanks again.

I received a response from Song this morning. (very quick, since I sent my complaint over the weekend). They apologized for not notifying me and said they try to notify everyone but with thousands of customers it doesn't always happen. Also if I was not happy with the flight they put me on, I could call and switch to another flight. I did end up switching to a 7pm flight just because I didn't want someone to have to pick us up at Logan during rush hour! Hopefully, the times will not change again!! Again, thanks SeaSpray!:D

I'm booked on Song for July and checked a few weeks ago. I think I'll make it a habit of checking weekly now! :)

There was a minor change made but the seats were not assigned. When I called Song, they did show seat assignments; the same as when I booked. They updated the reservation and emailed me a new confirmation which I should have when I get home.

Again thanks for the heads up!!!!!!!!

BUMP

My change was a minor one. Someone else's may not be.

BTW....I never got notified either. If I hadn't read this post I'd never have known.
