Check your JC Penny Clearance Racks

I was making a return today and the person behind me told me that they had a glitch in the system this weekend and the clearance clothing that was scheduled to be sent back (not all, just some),
were ringing up at 25 cents. She had been to 3 stores yesterday and gotten bags full. Most stores had pulled the items today but the clerk told us that this particular store was too short staffed so they were selling, rather than packing it all up and sending back.
I got 6 shirts and 2 skirts, that were marked at clearance from 6.00 to 14.00 for 2.00 total. The ladies plus racks were very picked over, but the children’s and lingerie still had a lot.

Was it everything? Otherwise how do you know what was supposed to be sent back?

I was in JCP yesterday and the lady said they had mens suit jackets for .25. Of course, the first person to realize this ran back and grabbed everything off the rack so the rack was empty by the time I went yesterday afternoon.

It was anything marked down in clothing. You had to scan it on one of those pole scanners to see if would ring .25. Not everything I picked up scanned at .25.

I went Sunday and grabbed a few shirts for myself $5 each, some leggings for my daughter and a shirt for DH. I didn't even realize until I looked at the receipt when I got home that DH's shirt rang up at 25 cents! I only went in the first place since I had that $10 (not a coupon) coupon to use that expired that day. He wanted to go back and scour the racks for more, but I didn't feel like going back out again, darn, guess we should have.

We did this and got everyone they had and donated them all to "one church -one child" which supports our local foster care system. It was soooo amazing to see how excited the adults were that I would have loved to have seen these children, whom rarely get anything new, getting a really nice , new warm coat!!!

Thanks for the heads-up! We went out an looked and found a pair of dressy shoes for dd9. We price-checked some other things, but didn't find anything else in the $.25 glitch-group... there probably were some, but there weren't a lot of scanners and it got tiresome going back and forth across the store.

On the upside for Penney's, word must have gotten out, because there were more people in the store than I have seen there in forever, and folks waiting for the doors to be unlocked at opening time!

If I had scanned something for .25 I would thought what a great deal. Now that I know that it is a glitch in the system, I can't in good conscience buy any of it.

I'm with you it's not a sale, it's a computer glitch.

If they said it was a glitch, I'd have to mull it over... BUT I have purchased items for 47 cents (shirts) and 25 cents (plates) at JCP before, so I wouldn't assume it was a glitch and would probably load up if I wasn't informed it was an internal error.

Thank you ! I was told that they cleared the shelves of those prices already but then my DS's shorts rang up that price and so I got him a bunch of shorts and shirts for next summer and my nephew some stuff also. I only found boys clothes at that price, everything else came up as marked.

It is not a glitch. I got a pair of sandals and sneakers for my grandson. When I went to scanner, it rang up $3.00 but then underneath it said Bonus: .25. Spoke with cashier and she said that some things that are .25 is a customer bonus, not everything on clearance is .25.
