"Check Wait Times on the Website." What?

I've been perusing the DisBoards for a little while now in anticipation for our trip in November, and one thing that I've seen a couple of times is about how to check wait times. I've seen some people say that a cast member told them to not check the wait times on the MDE app because it was unreliable, but instead check the times on the website.

So... I'm confused. I went to the MDE website, clicked on attractions, and I see no wait times. Am I just being dumb? Is there a way to check wait times on the website?

Thanks in advance!

For us, the MDE is the "quick and dirty" way to check wait times. The site could be down, it happens from time to time. However, it's our go to site for a quick status of things. It does tend to be quite conservative in the wait times, but you can still get a ballpark on how busy a certain attraction or park is. The Lines app gives the most accurate wait times, IMO.

The Lines app... is it called "The Lines" or something else? Also, is it just an Apple app, because a lot of stuff is just Apple apps and it makes me a sad panda.

I have the Lines app on my Android, so definitely not Apple-only. It's called WDW Lines and it is published by the Touring Plans site. Be aware though, that you need to have a paid subscription in order to use the Lines app for wait times.

It's just called "Lines." Here's a link on the Apple App Store:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/disney-world-lines-from-touringplans.com/id411091283?mt=8

and Google Play Store:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.touringplans.lines.android

Paid subscription required for all the goodness (including posted and projected wait times), but they have a 45-day money back guarantee.

No, I'm not a paid spokesman :D, just a subscriber from the beginning and I think it's $ well spent. YMMV.

LINES is way more reliable than Disney's site or app. LINES shows actual wait time not just the posted wait time. Disney often inflates the wait time on rides to encourage guests to go to other attractions (or spend money in shops).

Which reminds me...have to renew my subscription!

Yes, you have to pay for the Lines app, but I think it was something like $15 for 12 months. Money very well spent, IMO.

Check around for coupons, too. I got a coupon, so my Touring Plans year subscription was only $10, I think. If you Google it, the website has a lot of very useful info as well as the app. I like being able to create my own touring plan and see anticipated wait lines, etc.

I use magic guide and it's free. People report their wait times or what they see as they walk around.
