Something odd is happening on their website. I got a promo code and decided to switch from Providence to Hartford and take the hit for the difference in fares.
Well, I put in all the info and it was going to be about 80.00 more and I tried to make the reservation and it came back and said the fare was no longer valid. So, I tried again and this time it was 10.50 less than the fare out of Providence. So, naturally, I booked it!!!!

The fares being shown are NOT what they end up being. They are, are you all ready, LESS.

Check it out, quickly.

Mine were just what I booked at yesterday.

I cancelled and rebooked our August flights yesterday afternoon and saved $90 on 3 RT's.:D

I cancelled Indianapolis and re-booked Nashville for a little less money...much more convenient airport, better flight times...YAY!

Ours are the same as we booked at, but glad you guys saved some! I'm o.k. withour rate of 545 for 4 passengers....but if it drops I'll be even happier!

They apparently changed the fares out of Hartford sometime in the middle of the night. Yesterday they were showing 97-149.
Today they are showing 79-149. I booked at the 79.00 each way.

I just cancelled and rebooked for the second time! The fare has dropped $100 since I originally booked in April!! I guess all I need to do now is come up with a weekend getaway to use my credit! I can't imagine it getting lower than $60 one way from BWI to MCO but I'll keep checking. :D

Thanks Gail! :Pinkbounc
Yeah! I booked a few weeks ago when I found a good fare, but the return time was not great: 1:10 PM. I really wanted the 6:00 flight home so we could play for half of the day, and not have to rush to get to the airport. Unfortunately that fare was much higher. After reading your post, Gail, I decided to check out the fares again, but they hadn't changed. :( Well today I checked again, and they had added a new fare class for that flight: Fun Fare. It was still more than what I had booked, but with my rapid reward code I ended up switching to the time I wanted for $15 less! And, yes, the fares came up less even without the code than what was advertised.

Thanks so much for the info!!!

I just booked 2 roundtrip fares out of Hartford for $295 Total!

WDW here we come!

I truly think SWA is enjoying messing with me, LOL...yesterday, I get the postcard and try to apply it to my current reservation out of Indianapolis--it would lower the fare by almost $100. Of course, the promotional code wouldn't work on my return flight. I wake up this morning, find that the fares have dropped out of Nashville, and I re-book. That flight is priced at the same as what I was paying to fly from Indy, but that airport is closer and the flight times are better.

Fool that I am, I check SWA again, and of course, now the fare out of Indy is available with the promotion...grrrrr. It's $77 cheaper than the flight out of Nashville. I don't have my card at this computer, but I'm almost positive there's a penalty to cancel and re-book if you use this code.

Why wasn't the fare available for the promo yesterday and why is it today? wah!

gail.....

did you get randomly selected two times in a row to get a promo code?

lucky you if you did....

also,

anyone else get the email saying they will give you 3 x RR credit for those travelling on the 18th of the month from now until december....looks like a good perk too...

Nope, not two times in a row, but, someone very nicely posted the code over on the Budget board, I did not repost it here as it is against the rules (as I understand them) to post codes not everyone gets. But, I shamelessly used it. :)
Yes, I did get that mail, great promo, but I am traveling on the 1st.

No penalty to rebook with the code. I did it. SWA never charges a penalty to change, you only pay the difference in the fare (if there is one) and you even get a credit for future travel if the fare drops.
I was surprised to see the fares drop like they did, and that is why I posted this in the first place.

this is why I LUV :) Southwest airlines.....easy re-booking. Just so I am clear, I can cancel my flight with the code and re-book, using the same code. I don't see anything about only one use per person.....I am still using the same funds from my original non-discounted reservation....am I right about this?

thanks, Gail!

Yes, you are correct. BUT....make sure what you want is available before you cancel ( I know obvious, but not to some.)
I generally go to the site, see if what I want is available, plug it in and go to purchase this fare, and stop when they want me to enter the method of purchase (this holds the flights, btw) then I open another window, bring up SWA and cancel the reservation, then go to the window with the saved flights and continue the purchase. This takes like 5 minutes or less.
I was doing this Thurs. really EARLY am and it came back to tell me that the fares were no longer vaid, which set me back a bit, and so I redid everything only to find that the fares had dropped, made my day. Talk about luck!!!! In fact, they changed the fares for my reservation before they changed them on the site.

--->I did not know that holds the flights....good to know! thanks for the info :)

gail...

think we lucked out on the 18th promo since we are going to branson in september but flying into st louis....at first we were going use our "free award" but after crunching the numbers if we fly buf - bwi then bwi - stl ...for the whole "round trip" we will get 10 credits instead of 6, thus even though we have the free flight it makes more cost sense to fly gaining "credits" rather than using the "award"

funny way to do it, but we figure each credit we get for this "roundtrip" to the two cities will end up costing us 25$ per eg...taking the total cost of the flight and then dividing by 10....would have been even better if we had not missed out on the 32$ fare they were offering to baltimore too, but oh well ...cannot have it all =)

as another example, taking buf to mco the cost per credit would be 37.50$ based on fare of $150 getting 4 credits ( RR doubling )

thus we will be more than half way there for a new reward on just this one trip

with regards to the 18th promotion, the fine print states

"Bonus credits only valid for Rapid Rewards
Members signed up for Rapid Rewards E-mail Updates on the
18th of the month.", so if ones wants to take advanatage of this promo, you should sign up for RR Email Updates ( which is not the same as Click' Save Updates )

all we can say, SW treats us to many promotions and flies to markets from which we can easily "branch" out into on vacation

Makes sense to me.
I was already signed up. Still not flying on the 18th. I love SWA and they do take care of their RR people.

I have been purchasing drink coupons on ebay at a fraction of the cost a drink would cost. Most are with free shipping. I got one book of ten, free shipping for 1.95. Now, that is a savings.
LOL
