check issues at "Tutto Italia"

I was wondering if anyone else had a similar experience while dining in Italy at EPCOT. In 2007 we went to Alfredos and had a great meal, but when it was time to get the check, the waiter wouldn't show it to us! We were on the dining plan and the tip was inclusive, but we like to keep track of what our expenditures would be as we go from day to day. We asked for the manager and he told us they had, "already closed out the meal and couldn't print a check." We thought it was strange, and that maybe they were trying to pad the check to get more from Disney, but we let it go as a one time occurance. We skipped the summer of 2008 and then went back last year (summer 2009). Again we had lunch at Tutto Italia (formerly Alfredo's). This time the waiter charged us for 4 meals although their are only 3 of us in the party. When we pointed out the error, the manger came over, told us he had made the adjustment and we were now being charged for 3 meals. However, our receipt now showed a charge of seven meals!! The original mistake was still there, with an additional 3 charges. The manager told us that the adjustment would take an hour or so to show up - not to worry.
When we went to dinner that night at Chef Mickey's, the over charge was still there. DW went to the front desk once we got back to AKV and proceeded to get them involved. It took a bit of time, but the manager there got the charges cleared and the 4 meals were put back onto our account. The next day, the charges had BEEN PUT BACK ON BY TUTTO ITALIA!!! We discovered this while having dinner at Prime Time Cafe the next night. Again, we went to our front desk person and luckily there was a record of our transaction with the manager the night before. We told the hotel manager that it looked like we would have to get security involved as it was starting to look like an intentional case of fraud.:scared1: She actually put our comments into the record of our transaction. Interestingly enough, the charges did not reappear after that. So... has anyone else had trouble with the billing at Italy? Once could be a mistake, but after last summer we have decided to never go back. It took about 45 minutes to an hour each time we had to go to management to get this "cleared up". We love the food but don't want the hassle. We generally use the dining plan, and know to check receipts after meals, but this was crazy!!! :confused3

We had lunch at Tutto Italia last week and had no issues with the bill and we used our DDP credits too. Sorry that happened to you...:sad2: It sounds very frustrating!

We had a really bad meal and rude waiter last fall at Tuttio Italia. After complaining to Tuttio Italia's corporate offices in California they refunded our entire bill.

That never happened to us at any restaurant, including Tutto. That does sound very strange to me. I would also wonder what is going on.

I did have one instance where we brought my Mom with us at CP and we were charged for her meal on our card but I quickly brought it to their attention and they fixed it.
This last time we went to Teppan Edo in Japan. We had the meal plan and I had ordered a appetizer which was not included. I put money in the envelope . She took that as the tip and charged our room for the appetizer. I called our guest services back at PoP and explained the appetizer was supposed to be taken out of the money we left and they corrected it. I dont normally put a credit card on my KTWC and now I know why! It makes more sense for me to just pay with my own credit card outright.

1) Actually, it takes less than five minutes to add or delete meal credits.
2) It is a simple process for concierge desk to accomplish.
3) However, it is far more difficult for eateries to handle.
4) ALWAYS best to have it corrected at the hotel.
5) Just have the restaurant manager initial the receipt for the change.

PS - Changes, when made at the concierge desk are effective the instant the ENTER key is hit.

Hmm....we paid OOP when we ate there in Dec 2008 and had a waiter with BO. Not what you want to smell when you're eating.

We had several check issues during our May 08 trip. We traveled with my parents (a total of 6 guests). Since we had six people they automatically included the 18% gratuity on our check. Most times we chose to pay the tip in cash and let the server know so it wouldn't be charged on our KTTW card. When we went to check out we found those gratuity charges still on the bill. The manager at out resort was able to fix it.

Our bigger issue was at Mama Melrose. Our server told us that several items were included in our meals. We questioned him about it, because I didn't recall reading about those extras when I was doing trip planning research. He said it was because we booked the Fantasmic package, so those extras were included. We had a great meal, but of course he was wrong. The items didn't show up on our bill at the table, but they did show up on our KTTW card at checkout (along with the gratuity we had paid in cash). We had our receipt and the resort manager was helpful in correcting it, but it was a hassle and we won't return to that restaurant.

1) This has become a common practice at WDW eateries.
2) You need to REALLY scrutinize your bill.
3) Then compare it to the KTTW charges.
4) So may people are on DDP.
5) It has becomes too easy to add items, as people never look.
6) There have been many meetings regarding this.
7) Concierge have been told to remove ANY complained food charges.
8) Arguing or asking for details is too embarrassing to WDW.
9) Most folks "on the desk" see several of these per day and refund charges.

I don't use cash for tips or extras for this reason. Mistakes, honest mistakes do happen and if all bills, OOP or DDP tips are on my room charge, it makes it easier for making corrections.

Just so other people don't worry, we had a great lunch at Tutto last April on the plan and no problems with the bill at all. Sorry you had issues!

Wow! Am I understanding this correctly? Are you saying that waiters are trying to cheat diners because the think the diners will be on the ddp and won't chck the bill? If so, that's appalling. I hope I am just misunderstanding.

Like everything else in life there are always people who try to cheat. Hopefully the occurance of cheating is lower at Disney. After all, this is the most magical place on Earth.:rotfl2:

In our case, in 4 trips on the DDP we only had one issue. At WPE in DTD we were charge for 4 credits when only 3 of us ate. I prefer to think of it as an honest mistake and the CM at the Poly corrected the mistake even though I did not have a bill to prove it.

Whether the mistake is intentional or honest, it simply makes sense to always check your bill at Disney or anywhere else.
