What time is check in at the DVC properties (inquiring about BLT in particular, but assuming they are the same across the board)?

Assuming it's around 3 pm or so, what sort of success have people had getting in if they arrive early?

As a follow-up question, if we're not able to check in upon arrival and we have a bunch of food that would need to be refrigerated, do they have some way to store that stuff for you until you can check in?

You can check-in as early as 6 or 7am. Room ready is after 4pm. Bell Services can store luggage and food items (including cold items).

We always check in as soon as we arrive, but rarely get into our villa before 4:00. No matter though, because we usually just head to the parks after we check in and wait for the text before heading back to the villa and the grocery store.

I know at BWV it is 4pm, and I'm pretty sure it is the same across the board. Our villa was not ready until closer to 4:30pm last July. We had arrived around 11am, checked in and got our KTTW cards, villa was not ready (which I expected). They held our luggage and we headed to DTD for the afternoon. We came back at 4pm, and they said they needed a few more minutes. We walked around the Boardwalk a little, then came back at 4:20 and still, they needed another few minutes. I said, "OK, no problem...we have a dinner reservation at Chef Mickey's at 5pm, should we just go now or will the room be ready momentarily?" The CM called mousekeeping...the villa was ready but they forgot to notify the desk. I was happy to be going to the room. The CM immediately told me that she was placing a $50 resort credit onto our account for the trouble of the villa not being ready by 4pm. It was very nice, and I wouldn't have expected this.

So, we got to drop off anything else we were carrying, then we drove to the CR to go to Chef Mickey's...got there in plenty of time.

It's hit and miss... at BWV our last trip we had to wait for our room but it was still ready before 4, I want to say around 2pm? Then when we jumped to BLT on our split stay, we checked in first thing in the day before hitting the park just so we had all that stuff organized. We got to BLT no later than 11am and to our surprise our Villa was ready for us.

On previous trips we had to wait until after 4... you just can't tell until you check in what'll happen.

And yes your luggage and stuff needing refrigeration can be stored.

OKW is our home resort. As has been mentioned previously the published time for the rooms to be ready is 4 PM. We generally arrive around lunch time. Most of the times our rooms have been ready at check-in. Once they weren't available till 5 PM.

BLT is the same as the DVC resorts, check in can be done earlier in the day but the room probably won't be available before 4:00 PM which is the actual check in time. We've stayed at BLT twice, once we our studio was available at 2:30PM and for the second stay the 1BR wasn't available until 4:30 PM. DVC villas are larger than regular hotel rooms so they take longer to clean so sometimes they are not available until late in the day.

We try to help the next family by checking out as so as we can on departure day, in fact we often leave our room between 7 and 8 AM so the maids can start cleaning.

We usually arrive at whichever resort between 9:00 - 9:30. Room is ready 3 out of 5 times at that point. The latest we got into a room was 6:00.

Availability also depends on the day / "event". As an example, many / most resorts have a higher point cost for Friday / Saturday nights, so they may get a lot of checkouts on Friday morning and may not get all the villas cleaned by 4 PM. Also, some resorts may have big occupancy over a holiday, and then a mass checkout to get back home and to work.

Yesterday (a Sunday) at DVC Hilton Head, we arrived at 2:30 PM, but our villa was not ready for us until 5 PM.

Check is isn't at 4PM. It's after 4PM. So it could be 5 or 6PM.
