We are in the midst of planning our first trip to WDW and have been reading all the posts on this site. I'm a little confused on one major issue and that is Check In. Some posters have said that they were able to check in early (9ish) others later. Do the hotels have a set check in time? Does it depend on the hotel? What time is best to get there? We will be flying in with 2 kids who I'm sure will be raring to go when we get there. Any and all advice is appreciated! We are torn between CBR and ASMovie

Where will you be staying? Some resorts have a 3PM check-in time and some have a 4PM check-in time. If you arrive early and your room is available they will let you go ahead and check in.

You can actually check in at any time, although official time to actually get your room is usually 3-4 o'clock. If your room is ready, they'll let you get in it..otherwise, they'll give you a phone number to call during the day and check when your room is ready. You can check your luggage, and go on to the parks (if you have tix on your room for that day, you will be able to use them), or pack your suits in your carry-on (or take them out of your suitcase), and go ahead and swim while you wait...at value hotels you can get towels at the desk..at moderates and up, they are at the pool.
Once you are in your room, you can call the luggage area, and they will deliver your luggage...or you can pick it up, if you are anxious to get it. Once, when we were going to be late, at All Stars, we asked to have our luggage delieverd when the room was ready, and they did, so it was waiting for us.

Does it affect what type of room you are assigned depending on what time you check in?

If we check in early in the day (9am-12pm) - do we have a better chance of being upgraded as opposed to later in the day (1-5pm)??

Was hoping someone had some good advice for when we should check in. Thanks :p
