Check-In question regarding "Seasons"

I just thought of a question for any "experts" on the boards. Do you PHYSICALLY have to check in at the resort (during value season-as an example) to get the value rate? Or can you make a ressie that begins during value season, but not physically check-in until the next day (which may begin Holiday or Peak season).

A simpler way of putting it, would be say I wanted to take advantage of next years Value season and make ressies for 12/19 through 12/27. Begining on 12/20 the season switches from VALUE to HOLIDAY thus a huge jump in price. But I will not be able to physically check in until 12/20, which would mean the Holiday rate.

My thought was could a person make AND PAY for the 1st night( even though they wouldnt be there), but not actually check-in until the next day? Has anyone done this? I thought Disney probably wouldnt allow that, but then I thought, what about weather related travel issues, plane delays etc...

Any help is appreciated. thanks in advance

If you stay over the value season, but (for a example) you start your stay on a peak day, they charge you all value for the whole stay! :cool1: Is this what you meant? Hope it helped!

If you don't show up the first day of your reservation, you will lose your entire reservation as a no-show.

Nice idea, but as GoodFairies indicated, you would probably lose your ressie, as you have only put your creditcard down as a "placeholder" until you get there and sign in. Even if you could speak to someone and get them to agree to it, I would be worried about things messing up so that when you finally did get down there you realize there was a mix up and your ressie got cancelled. Is there no way to go a day earlier? :umbrella:

I have also heard that you will lose your ressie. Call CRO and ask the latest time you can check in. It may be early the 20th. I remember someone saying that they could check in up to 6 am the next morning. I could be totally off here. I would call.

Thanks for your replies. My wife and I are both teachers so we are at the mercy of the school calendar. Hopefully for 2005 our vacation can begin during value season, but I was just asking this question in case it didnt work out that way. thanks again

My wife and I are teachers as well. Is there any chance that you can take a personal day on the 19th so you can get there then? We are allowed 1 personal day backing up to a vacation......

Have fun!

I always understood that the rate on your check in day (peak, holiday, regular, or value) was the rate you got for your whole stay. So, for example if the first day you check in is value, you get value for the entire stay, regardless of if it changes to peak the next day. But the reverse is also true right? If you check in the last day of peak, your rate stays at peak, even though it changes to value the next day. In order to get the value price for the remaining day, you have to check out and check back in? Is that correct?

I know this doesn't have anything to do with the OPs original question, but I want to be sure I clearly understand the policy.

Thanks
Shelly
