I stayed at the DLH in October last year and loved it. The rooms are much more spacious than the GCH rooms (or so I hear - I can't afford GCH :lmao:).

The light-up headboard is truly special and my DD (2) turned it on and off over and over because the tune to "When You Wish Upon A Star" only plays for about 30 seconds when the switch is first flipped. She really loved the tinkly music and the lights coming up on the headboard.

We didn't get to use the pool but it looks very nice.

Dbbydk - I responded to your PM with some MHP info. One thing I didn't mention that directly relates to you staying at DLH is that most people are unaware you can enter the park for the MHP event at the Monorail entrance. Most go to the main entrance and have to stand in long lines, but there were only 5 or 6 folks in line at the Monorail entrance!

Question for all who did not receive their first choice of hotel - do you think "they" might switch you to your first choice at some point in the future if availability opens up? Worth a shot to ask if you are really disappointed...

That makes for an awesome birthday! My daughter just passed her driver's test last week. It has been nice to be distracted by this thread because that fact that she is on the roads and driving is stressing me out! :scared1:

Yes - She is a great driver but knowing now she can drive alone freaks me out a bit!

Thank you for the PM. I know it took some time to do, and I appreciate it. My husband has been wondering trick or treating is worth $200 for our family of four. He was a little irritated that you could have a park hopper, and be told you have to leave 2 hours before regular closing unless you pay more to stay for the party. I see his point, but I also get that it's a special event. I think most people plan ahead, and take this sort of thing into account, but he was thinking of the people who only go for 2 days, and one day they get cut short. I'm going to have to convince him that this is worth the extra money.

I think they might switch hotels for us if we periodically check back with them, but I won't bother. We're very happy to be staying at DLH. I'm really not surprised that the GCH wasn't available because we're going in July when it's going to be really busy. I doubt that they'll check to see if our first choice is available on their own.

I just wanted to make sure. There was a fridge in the room, right? The DL website shows that they have them at the other two hotels, but not the DLH so I'm hoping it's an oversight on their website.

Can you really use the other pools and the GC entrance to CA? That would be awesome! We'll definitely have to take the monorail to the park for MHP. Is the walk to the park entrance far from DLH? I hope not. :)

I keep wondering if they have had the Feb.22 drawing yet since there has been no new winners yet this week :confused3

I am trying to stay positive as well, however we have been very fortunate to have so many Dis winners, I think the reality is that we probably just didnt have any Dis'ers this drawing.

Perhaps we will get some alternates :)

Just know that you have 8 more chances at least and that in the final drawing ALL of your entries will have a chance!:woohoo: Come on more Dis winners!

I checked the Disney website for you, here is what it said:

The restaurants at all 3 Hotels of the Disneyland Resort are open to everyone.

However, all other services at the Disneyland Hotel, Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel and Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa are exclusive to the hotel a Guest is staying at with the following exceptions:

  • If there is a closure or other situation whereby a Guest or Guests have been granted access to services at hotels not specific to where they are staying, they will be duly notified of the temporary policy change.
  • Guests of the Disneyland Hotel and Disney's Paradise Pier Hotel may use the massage services and Pinocchio's Workshop (children activities center) at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa for an additional fee. Advanced reservations are required.
  • Guests of all 3 Hotels of the Disneyland Resort can enter and re-enter the Resort using the exclusive entrance into and exit from Disney California Adventure Park with valid theme park admission.

One other thing to consider - the event ticket only gets you into DL, you can not park hop. But one thing you might do is consider that day a pool day/rest day and you can still get a good 8 hours in at DL with lower crowds (possibly). That way you don't use a day of your ticket.

Yes, there are mini-fridges in the DLH rooms. I know you can use the GC entrance into CA, but I've been told you can not pool hop. I think DLH guests were allowed to pool hop while the pool was shut down for construction, but I don't know if that is the case any longer. I would call DLH guest services for the scoop straight from the mouse's mouth.

As for the distance from DLH to the park entrance, that really depends on which tower you are staying in. There is a thread about distances on the Disneyland board, I'll try to find it and post it for your review.

That is an excellent idea. We are on the 4:30 flight back to Phoenix, so we have several hours our last day there, which is a Thursday, so a Magic Morning. And the party tickets are cheaper than the price of an all day ticket. That may be the day we get a car and go to the beach for a few hours.

Well this is a first- it's been an hour and a half since someone posted a message on this thread.

What's going on? No FedEx stories to tell, no missed phone calls from a 212 area code?

Has anyone approved their itinerary yet?
