Can I ask did you find out on Friday that you won or did you find out Monday that you won for Friday?

They did the drawing last Wednesday (I'm assuming). I got a letter from Fedex on Thursday afternoon saying I was a potential winner. I signed the affidavit that day and sent it back. They received it around noon on Friday and less than 2 hours later I received an e-mail telling me I was definitely a winner. My name still isn't on the website so I'm assuming they only update it every few days. The letter I received had the date January 15 at the bottom, so I'm assuming that's the drawing that I won. Hope that helps.

I would expect that the next round of winners will be notified this Wednesday and Thursday, if things go the same way they did last week.

I'm hoping there's no blackout dates but I guess I'll find out sometime this week (hopefully). My husband is in the military and we're really restricted as to when we can go. I'll let you guys know when I hear something.

I would guess ALL the major Holidays-the weeks before & after, because they are all booked

I hate to be Downer but don't forget you have to pay taxes on this win next year. We won a $25,000 trip to Europe and my taxes on it are about $7000 this year. That was for 5 people 12 nights so I think it was well worth it.

Depends on your tax situation but its usually about 30% of the win. The value on this one is $6000 so $1800 is nothing to pay for a WDW for 4 people in my opinion.

Canadians don't normally get taxed on winnings. We have to answer a "skill testing" math question in order to claim the prize instead.

I won the trip in 2010, took the trip in 2011 and received my 1099 for the 2011 tax year. Meaning I owe taxes April 2012.
I agree that its 110% worth it - I would never had been able to take such a trip without the win.

I've been lurking here for a couple of weeks, crossing my fingers with the rest of you and hoping to see the FedEx truck stop in front of my house everyday.

Congratulations to the winners so far!! I hope all of you have a fabulous trip, and come back here to tell us all about it!!

Now for a reality check: One thing I cannot believe is all the negativity from some people, almost wanting the winners to prove they have won. So what if they won? Are you that much of a sore loser that you can't be happy for someone else? And if they didn't really win, then that means there's one more chance for you. I could care less if someone comes here and lies about winning, it has no direct effect on me. But let's just assume that these people have won and be happy and excited for them!!

And all the nitpicking over the rules for the contest...please! This is a HUGE contest that is probably getting hundreds of thousands of entries per day. I've never seen so many grown people argue and dissect every word from the rules and regulations over a contest. Just enter each day and hope you win, that's all there is to it.

Okay, I'll get off my soapbox now and continue being happy for all the winners from the DIS, including the new DIS members!! Please don't let the haters deter you from being a part of the family here. There's a lovely option that allows you to block certain users, and you don't ever have to see their posts again.

I can not believe what just happened! The doorbell rings- my DH goes to the window and is yelling "it's fedex, and he's carrying an envelope!" I'm yelling back "you better not be making this up..oh my gosh oh my gosh" and we both run to the door. He signs for it and says "It's from Disney" and I am thisclose to peeing my pants. We rip it open and it is a giftcard for a DVC phone tour I took last month
So while it was a very welcome mail surprise, it was a huge letdown haha! I am still all hopped up on adrenaline of the thought that I had won. phew. That was crazy!

I read this on another thread too, what's up with the "skill testing" math question? That's so bizarre. What if you answer incorrectly, do you forfeit your prize? Is this standard of all Canadian contests or just these Disney ones?

So Im on the phone a minute ago with DH, doorbell rings. DD4 and I go to answer it, it is a FedEx guy carrying an envelope! He says this is for XXX(Dhs name) I must have a signature. DH is in my ear, who is it, is it from Disney?? I look at the envelope, YES, its from Disney He yells open it, what is it?? I rip it open and there it is......our $40 gift card for the DVC survey. Im mean its great and all, but man, I was so excited for about a minute.

Oh well, what a bummer. Maybe next time they come to the door, it will be the envelope we are all waiting for!
