I love this post because it is so similar to my situation. We live an hour from WDW in Florida and spend many, many weekends there every year. We are so excited to go to DL and not have to pay for anything because we are using our $1,000 gift card for food and the $500 shopping spree for souvenirs. Plus, my husband is a teacher and my 8 year old is in school so we have to go during the summer also. We're hoping to extend our time in California so that we can do other things like the SD Zoo, site seeing in Hollywood, etc. My son is so excited- he already has our trip planned - right down to what we are riding and when - and we don't even know when we are going. So funny!

Our plan exactly. We can only go this summer because DH is in the Army and will be otherwise occupied the rest of the year. The summer isn't blocked out for those going to WDW so hopefully it will be the same for those of us going to DLR. After our time at DLR we're planning on heading to San Diego as well...zoo, Legoland, beaches, etc. I'm wondering if they'll even let us fly back from there. Can't wait until they contact us! My poor 4 year old really doesn't have a great concept of time so he doesn't realize that we're not going this weekend! LOL!

I'm looking forward to not having to worry about how much we're spending on food and everything! Can't wait!!!

None of us know for sure. Once or twice a week is my guess....maybe every day. Who knows?

Would they use the e-mail address from the Disneyworld.disney.go.com site?

They would send it to whatever e-mail address you're using to enter the contest. If you've been entering by text message, they would call you.

I was glad they didn't block summer dates. We are doing the same thing. We have to travel in the early part of summer because of school and my 16 year old will be working. She has a school trip to France in 2013 she is working toward We sent in our dates and hotel request today, although we are going to WDW. I am hoping we get the Grand Floridian, it was our top pick! They sure made it easy to extend our trip with those forms. I was fretting about it.

They don't actually send you an e-mail unless they don't have your address. They must have used my address from the Disneyworld.disney.go.com site so make sure your contact info is correct.

I was hoping they'd offer us a discount to extend, but can't complain. We weren't planning on extending, but I just realized last night that we'll need to stay one extra night to use that 5th day ticket. It would be a waste to use it the night we arrive for just an hour or two. I guess we might be using that gift card for the hotel and food.

I was looking at the tours (I should have realized I had the wrong forms when the tours were only for WDW), and there is only one of them that is for all ages. Knowing what the tour incentive was helped solidify our decision to do the shopping spree. There is no point in choosing the tour package worth $500, when we could only do one. Plus, I'd much rather have STUFF!

We are planning to switch to Pop although they had you check that you wanted to continue your stay at a value, moderate, or deluxe and the price range they listed was cheaper than what we quoted online even with the special they are offering. However, I just realized that I forgot to note at the bottom that we wanted to request Pop so I may need to call them.

Yes, definitely call them before they make the reservation. We're going to WDW tomorrow and staying at the Pop for the first time. I can't wait! I've heard good things about it.

Ooh, that would be cool. I hadn't thought of the fact that it would probably be difficult to come up with a DTD only gift card.
