Check In Here If You Are Going To, The MN DIS Meet- May 8th

Hi Everyone!

We need to take another poll to find out how many people will be coming to the Mall of America DIS Meet. And everyone is Welcome to come, it's going to be a lot of fun! ( And please list how many people will be coming from your family)

And I went out to Bubba Gump's to speak with a manager about getting a party room for us to use. The manager said that they do not have a party room there, but they do have areas where they can seat us. She also said that if we have 20 or more people in our group we would have to pay a $200.00 deposit fee. So that is one of the main reasons why we need to know how many people will be coming. And we also need to decide if we still want to eat there or maybe try somthing else in the mall. Also Diane is helping me get this MN Meet set up and she thought maybe meetting in the food court area would be a good idea. Please tell us what you think and if you have any ideas please share them.

I though of one more thing to add. If we do get the 20 or more people to come and we do go to Bubba Gump's, how does everyone feel about paying a little more money. Because if we have 20 or more people we have to pay a $200.00 deposit fee. I would like to go there, but right now money is an issue with me. So how do you all feel about this?

I voted for Bubba Gumps, but it really does not matter to me where we meet.

There will be 3 of us: Me, DH, and DD (2 1/2)

Though I voted for the food court, I am fine with whatever is decided. My concern is what the deposit fee is for, is it refundable, and what that criteria is. From the few meets I have attended, not everyone is always able to make it, even if they respond yes. (Life happens, we can all understand that). So I would hesitate to commit to a specific sales quota for the deposit.

My DH, Bob, and I will definitely be there......with lime green on!

I just sent the manager at Bubba Gumps an email to make sure, that I heard her right. And I totally understand if somthing comes up and some people can not make it.

I voted for Bubba Gump's - or a sit down restaurant of some sort. I would have concerns about the deposit too - I assume it's refundable right?

I just think it would be nice to sit down at a restaurant and have a meal.

Not sure on my total - could be DH and I or could be just myself if I can't drag him out

I agree with the sit down restaurant idea. The food court is really noisy.

Isn't that the truth. Sometimes you can't even hear yourself think in that foodcourt! A sitdown would be nice, for sure!

I just go an email back from the manager at Bubba Gumps and here is what she said:

Hi, Sarah!

I sure do remember you! Thanks so much for staying in touch~ I'm hoping
sincerely that Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. will be your special event headquarters
fro your event on the 8th!

The $200 deposit is used to secure the reservation. If the tab swill be paid
for on 1 Credit Card or via 1 check, then it can be used as a down payment.
If you guys plan to pay individually (and remember, you will be given ONLY 1
check... it's up to the guests to determine what contributions they'll make
to the bill either by Credit Card, or preferably cash!), then we need a
Credit Card # to hold the reservation on. If your group was a no-show and/or
failed to cancel within 48 hours, the CC# would be charged a $200 fee.
That's how that works!


Please let me know if I can indeed arrange this special event for you~
again, I think Bubba Gump Shrimp is a perfect match for this particular
group~ PERFECT!

Any place is fine with me. I will have a pin in my toe and a boot but totally mobile. A sit down place would be better for me and I like the quieter spot, but the food court is o.k. too if that works better for others. DH may or may not come (depends on fishing issues) ;-)
I'm a little confused on how the deposit works. Do they charge it now or in May? If only 18 people show up can we still use the $200 towards the bill? For sure I will help with the deposit.

And from what the letter said it sounds like we will only be charged the $200.00 deposit fee, if we do not show up or failed to cancel within 48 hours. And thanks for saying that you would help.

I voted for Bubba Gumps too though it's not a big deal where we meet. DW and I will be there, I'm not sure if we'll bring the kids or not. I too would be surprised if there were 20 people. I don't think we've ever had 20 people show to a MN dis meet. I assume BG will take reservations for groups under 20?

I too voted for Bubba Gumps, and I too doubt we will have to worry about having more than 20. I think the largest meet was the last MOA one, and that was certainly less than 20. Bubba Gumps has a small room to the back and also a secluded area off to the side that would be nice for us.

I think we should try to have a single code name for the ressie, so when folks check in, they will know our group. It has been a LOOOONG time since we had a MN meet! BG is great fun too. Everyone be sure to watch the movie before we go! The waitstaff makes trivia about the movie a lot of fun.
