Check in early

Hello all. We are staying at Old Key West this fall. Our flight arrives at 9:30am. Can we check in early and leave the bags at the front desk so we can get the parks early? I see check in isn't officially until 4PM. We would like to leave our bags and spend the rest of the day at the park.

Yes you can. Sometimes your room might even be ready by the time you get there but there is no guarantee. When I stayed at Port Orleans Riverside I saw that my room was ready at 9 am while I was driving to Epcot from the airport.

OP, it's always possible to get a room early. But keep in mind that @Smugpugmug stayed in a hotel room. You are staying at Old Key West, which is DVC. Typically, DVC rooms are not available as early as a hotel room might be. DVC resorts are more likely to be filled to capacity, and have larger units which take longer for housekeeping to clean.

This is very true, I didn't realize that when I made my initial post. The earliest I ever got a DVC room was around 2-3pm (was staying at Copper Creek at WL) so I wouldn't count on getting your room at 9 am.

....also, if you have any special room requests, you could have to wait even longer, especially with DVC. Once I remember waiting until after 6pm because I really wanted a room on the top floor and the resort was pretty much booked. Of course, if you don't care about location etc., then I recommend going to the front desk as soon as u get there and asking if anything is ready.

We’ve had a 50/50 shot of room being ready early. Just don’t count on it. Checked in to kidani yesterday at 10:30 am and room was ready and we went right up.

Crazy because we are always DVC and have had our room as early as 9:00 am. Latest was 4:00.

While a room may not be ready you should be able to drop your bags with bell services and do a "pre-checkin" for a room.
