CHeck in at resort

was just checking the DME checked bags policy and have a quick question. I am flying Southwest and will have two bags. Will I be able to check in at my resort? I read that only one bag is allowed and if you have more than one, you must check in at the airport. I can reduce to one, but I like to have rom for souvenirs to bring home

I have checked 2 per person flying SW many times my last visit being Christmas 2013 if this has changed I need to know too.

Yes if you are flying SWA you can check in with 2 bags. Just did so last month

Checking your bags at the resort using RAC is exactly the same as using curbside check in at the airport. There is no limit to the number of bags you may check. If SW allows 2 free checked bags, you can check them free. If you are flying, say, Jetblue, and have two checked bags, you still pay for one, and get one free. But there is certainly no limit to the number of bags you can check there.

We will rent a car next trip but I love sending the luggage with Rack when we afternoon flights.

What website did you see this on? I'm always curious as to what info is out there. Wish I could use RAC in a few weeks, but my flight leaves too early in the morning...so have to trudge through the airport with it and do checkin the 'old fashioned' way!!!

I will try from my computer later in the day. I googled DME check in and the FAQ came up. To be honest, I hope I can't find it because it seems to be not accurate. Lol!!!

Just fyi - you can use RAC (Remote Access Check in) for checking in bags at your resort back to the airport even when you rent a car !

Unlike the inbound luggage delivery via DME where they want to you ride DME, RAC is a completely separate service. Like a pp said more like curbside check in.

My guess is that is was not the official Disney website. Also, I assume you mean DME (Disney's Magical Express), not MDE (My Disney Experience).

The Internet provides all sorts of obsolete information. Even the WDWinfo (same company as DISboards) page about DME (http://www.wdwinfo.com/transportation/magical-express.htm) is hopelessly filled with obsolete information, including all such gems as "Guests flying United Airlines who use the Resort Check-In are currently exempt from the airline's checked bag fee. (This is subject to change at any time.)." Yes that changed -- many years ago.

When Resort Airline Check-In (RAC) began in 2005, all participating airlines at the time allowed two free checked bags. Then some airlines began to charge for the second bag. RAC could not handle payment for a second bag. Then most airlines began to charge for all checked bags, so RAC updated its system and processes to allow guests to pay.

Ahh, they are speaking about the free vs paid checked baggage, I believe. It is misleading though.

Luggage and Fees

Guests who are flying on Alaska Airlines or JetBlue may check one bag per person. Additional checked bags on these carriers require a payment of a fee.

This is taken from the wdwinfo site. It speaks to the fees...not how many bags you are allowed to check through. Yes, it is misleading. Of course, there is a ton of incorrect info in there currently. No one has seen need to update it...which means lots of people are getting incorrect info from the site. Terrific.
