We checked in last Sunday at 9:30 am. Our requests were 2BR non-smoking, Turtle Pond. The CM said the room would not be ready til the afternoon, but he did have a 2BR unit available immediately in building 50 at South Point. "5032 is on the third floor." (Fine!) "You are directly in between the two quiet pools of Turtle Pond South Point" (Fine). "Here are your keys, welcome home." (yahoo!)

We got to our room, which was perfect. Overlooking the 3rd green. We could see the spires of Cirque in the distance. We then went to MK and started our vacation.

Our walk to the South Point bustop was 3 minutes. After being picked up it took 10 minutes to get out of OKW, but was always a straight shot then to the parks (except AK, which stopped at BB first). We never waited more than 9 minutes for a bus, and usually were running to catch it. Our worst bus experience was AK. I took us 25 minutes to get to AK(including wait time). We left during a horrible t storm and buses were delayed. We waited 26 minutes for the bus to get back to OKW, and then stopped at BB to pick up people, but still got back to our room in 54 minutes total elapsed time.

We got stuck in a 21 minute bus hold during a tornado watch at MGM, but still got home in 40 minutes total elapsed time.

We stayed for Fireworks at MK on Weds and despite the huge crowds, got home to OKW in 34 minutes, including wait time.

Total walk time from our unit to the hospitality house was 10 minutes at a brisk pace, 13 minutes on the way back with a coffee and newspaper in hand.

Thanks for the information. We're headed to OKW for our first stay there soon (but not soon enough for me!!) and I've been collecting info on good places.

The info on the bus stuff was good also. Thanks!

I must have just missed you! I checked in at 9am and honestly forgot what I requested other than non-smoking - maybe just to be near a pool since there were 12 of us. We were put into a Grand Villa immediately (woohoo!), in Building 63. It was an accessible unit, but the only difference we found was the roll-in shower in the master bathroom, a shortage of shelf space in that bathroom, and the lower countertops in the kitchen. My husband's family is pretty short anyway, so nobody even noticed. :)

And we just missed you again. We were whisked into a room near the Backlot Tour with a security guard blocking anyone from exiting. While we were there, my kids were on the phone with me outside of Hollywood & Vine, sitting on metal chairs, waiting for our table and the CM's there didn't even believe them when they were told that their parents were in "lockdown." They hadn't heard word of the tornado at all. Quite the surreal experience!
