We are checking in at POR on March 25, 2012. Currently we have a room at a hotel in DTD area for March 24th, however we are now leaving later in the morning from home on the 24th then originally planned. It will put us in Disney around midnight. Am I able to just check in to POR since it will be March 25 and cross my fingers that our room is ready early? If I am I was going to cancel my March 24th reservation. The earliest I have every checked in at Disney has been about 4am and we were lucky they had a room ready...I was just trying to save a few bucks..lol

even though it's after midnight, Disney's computer systems don't roll over to the next day until about 6 AM - so if you arrive at 12:01 AM on 3/25, it's still 3/24 in the computer and you won't be able to check in, as far as I understand it, unless something has changed very recently (as in, since December 2011).

You can not. Currently, Disney doesn't roll over their day until about 6AM. That is when the new day starts. To have a reservation available at midnight, you would have to book a room for that previous day.

No, you won't be able to check in at POR until 6:00 or 7:00 a.m. on the 25th. Even though midnight is technically the next day, it's still the 24th as far as your reservation goes. You would have to book POR for the night of the 24th in order to check in at midnight.

Since you'll have to keep the 24th reservation, it wouldn't hurt to call and have them note on your reservation that you'll be a late check-in. In the hotels I've worked in, night audit begins processing no-shows around 2-3am. It would be good to have your approximate arrival time noted, in case something happens and you arrive even later.
