We will be staying at BWV at the end of the month (I can say that now :p ) I am pretty sure that I can cash a check there, am I right? If this is correct, can anyone tell me what the maximum that I can cash a check for? I figured that someone on this board would know the answer. I'm trying to decided how much money I want to bring and traveler's check and stuff, but if my judgements are wrong, I have a back up acct that I can only write a check from. Thanks everyone!

I know the front desk will cash a check but I'm not sure what the limit (if any) might be. There are also cash machines available although they do charge a fee of something like $2 per transaction (and your own bank may also charge a fee).

Not sure if you are aware of this feature but you can put a major cc on your room key and it will have charging priledges at anywhere on property except a few little vendor carts. We love this feature and seldom take $100.00 with us. If we know we can charge everything that's all we need. If you want to the night before check out you can apply cash and/or travelers cks to your debt.
As far as a real answer to your question, I thought it was 100.00 but not sure how many times per stay. I would bet MS may have that answer, if not call the resort directly.

Thanks everyone for your help!

msdis - I am not a big fan of the charge to your room feature. I have never done it, but I have heard some horror stories, double charges, charges happening weeks after the trip. Besides, I guess that I don't trust myself, putting it on my room key I just don't feel the pain of spending my money and may go overboard. We (dh and I) just paid off all of our cc and I have canceled them because I know that they are my weakness, so I survive on the debit card. I guess that I will just put all of my spending money in one acct and go from there. I know that I probably sound like I am a little overdoing it, but trust me, my spending can easily get out of hand.

the BWV automatic teller machine is outside - close to the general store - before it. It will take the ATM/Debit card - but sometimes you have put it in several times.

I would still put a credit card on my room key - not because I am charging - I hate to check out - w/o a cc you can't have express check out.

we had someone with us that ran out of money and cashed 2-3 checks during the stay. The max was $200.00, i dont remember him saying that they charged him a fee for it.

There's no fee for cashing a check, and the limit is $200, but you can cash a check each day if desired.

They used to also get a CC card number, I guess for backup identification, but last time we cashed one they did a phone check where they used some service that validates the check.

We go on extended trips, (6-8 weeks), not all at DVC, and it's always been a good way for us to get additional cash for other parts of our trip.
