Check baggage with Delta at port?

Another thread said that passengers of certain airlines can check their baggage at the port for their return flight home. Can we do so if we are flying Delta?

Our Delta flight departs late in the evening of the day we disembark. We would love to go to MK for the day but what do we do with our bags? If we can check them at the port, that would great.

Just trying to get in as much Disney as possible.

Delta is one of the participating airlines, but they typically will not do it if your flight is more than four hours off.

We flew Delta on Jan 11th, 2003. Our return flight was at 6:20 pm and we had no problem with Delta checking our bags at the port.

We flew home on 1/11 and checked our bags at the port with Delta. Our flight wasn't until 7:10 PM and we had no problem. It was so nice not to lug our bags around the whole day like we did last year.

We also flew home on 1/11 and used Continental. Our flight was not until 6:30 pm and I was sure they would not take our bags, expecially since we did not have DCL transers.

But, I asked the agent if it would be a problem and he said nope!!! They checked all 10 pieces of our luggage in and it was waiting for us when we got to Newark. I think what happened was that it went on the earlier flight with my husband and kids who had a flight at 12:30. My nieces and I had the 6:30 pm flight. It was very convenient not having to lug the luggage with us to Downtown Disney (was even able to downsize my rental since we did not have the luggage).
