Well, my family returned two weeks ago from a trip to the World. We were on the dining plan, so I diligently made all of my ADRs months before we left. Everything was going great until midway through our trip.
We had tickets for MVMCP on its first night (Monday, 11/12.) Since I have young children, I thought this would be a perfect night to go the Crystal Palace for dinner-- we love their food, and the boys love the characters. I made an early ADR (about 5:00) so we would have plenty of time to enjoy the Christmas shows. When I went to check in, I found they did not have my ADR!
I had left all of my confirmation numbers in my room since every other time we didn't have a problem. The desk attendant was able to pull up all of my ADRs with my phone number. Every one was there EXCEPT for that night. I was shocked considering they were made at the same time, and I had received confirm numbers for all of them. This one just disappeared.
We were offered the opportunity for standby, but that wait was over an hour. So, we had to use a counter service that night. This left us scrambling with the concierge at POR the next morning to plan another TS meal, so my parents wouldn't lose their credit before they left the next day. We wound up using a TS credit for breakfast at Boatwright's. And while it was a good meal, I think it was a bit of a waste of a TS credit.
So, to sum it up, check your ADRs before you leave!
